    Afternoon all,

Not having the best of days to be honest. I made the mistake of falling asleep through the junk that was on television last night (managed to see the last 15 minutes of Martin on TV) so by 3am I was still wide awake. Got up for Millie dog but didn't wake up properly till gone 10 when I had a phone call.

Daily chores have been completed but I need to go food shopping now and I really don't feel like it. We could go tomorrow but ive got things I want to do tomorrow (like bath the dogs and I put the gas fire on for them to dry off and without a fire guard I wont leave the fire on whilst we are out).

'Youngest' has had another exam certificate through the post. He's fast asleep so I will get to see what exam he's passed later. He's had another 'all nighter'.

Middle son came yesterday to use our (my computer). Hubby sent him off with a flea in his ear. 'You only come when you want something' he growled which sent 'Middler' off in a huff.

Cant get hold of 'Eldest'. Someone please tell me I'm not the only one with a screwed up family please!

Anyway, I'd best get on with something before I plant myself on here for the day moping.

    Julie, thinking of you.

    Hilstep thinking of you too.

    Have a good day all.

    Afternoon All,

Julie - best wishes for your op on Monday. My SIL is having a serious back operation on Monday too, so my healing thoughts will be with you both.
TTFTM - gosh your new job has crept up quite quickly, I hope you get off to a good start.

Weather here is calm and sunny; quite a change from yesterday when floods were predicted about 12 miles away. I was very proud of the way the police, council and other government departments put preventive measures in place to minimise potential flooding and damage to houses and shops. :T :T

Christmas decs all down and boxed, ready to go into the garage. So that's it for another year!

Have a good day everyone
  • Oh Judi, rings so true to me. Sons hey! My eldest nearly 45 has gone AWOL to Dorset of all places. The Lord above alone knows what I,ve done to him. One time he talks to me then completely ignores me for months at a time. This time it's been nearly 2 years. Well what can we do? In the end we can only do the best we can. Good luck.
Just booked appointment with the vets for the 2 dogs injections. Good grief £34 each. I do put money by for vets bills but for goodness sake. I,m sure it wasn't this much last year. Mind you I had only 1dog then. ( got left with puppie by DS no 2 last year ) I,m a glutton for punishment LOL.
Hope everyone is safe with all this terrible weather. Although it's been bad here it's nothing like some parts of the country are having.
Feeling a bit peed off. Last night I had meat balls and chips. The lovely ones with sauce that they do at Ikea. All cooked then remembered Ex husband was coming for tea. So I ended up with egg and bacon. My DD was livid with me for giving it to him. She gets very protective of me bless her.
Well should really get on with some chores. I,m currently clearing out all the drawers and cupboard, oh what a chore ! The rubbish we accumulate.
  • Afternoon all.

    Good luck for Monday Julie

I was up early for breakfast and a shopping trip with a friend. We went to a Frankie and Benny's and had one of their £5 breakfasts, then popped into a nearby Hobbycraft and Matalan. Didn't buy anything so it was a much cheaper morning than I expected. I did see a crochet book I liked so I'm going to hunt down a cheaper copy online.

DS1 has gone on the train to Leicester today to spend some of his Christmas money, DH and DS2 have just returned from the cinema kids club.

Planning on sorting out my craft cupboard today. It's not so much craft but crap at the moment.

Echoing others' good wishes for you on Monday, Julie x
Judi, Fiftyeighter - is it just Boys do you think? Don't get me wrong, I love my two to distraction, but I do sometimes think they see me as nothing but an unpaid servant and Taxi driver!
OH and Sons now at footie, I've ironed, washed and dried two loads, prepped the Chilli for tonight and popped it into slow cooker and - inspired by Jackie's post, have made soup for the next few days' lunches by using up some tired Broccoli and the remainder of the Xmas Stilton!
Have just had a lovely hot bath, and since I'm not going anywhere I've put on some fleecy PJs (Xmas pressie!) and am snuggled up ready to watch the footie on TV.
Could I ask a question? I've noticed a few of you are Crotchet fans.
It's something I've never mastered but I quite fancy having a go, and since I've got an Amazon voucher burning a hole in my purse I wondered if any of you knew of a good book for beginners?
Or maybe I'm better off seeing if I can learn off the internet?
Have a good evening everyone x

Afternoon All, thought I had better poke my head over the parapet!

:hello: and welcome to all newbies, returners, and  to those still lurking.

Didn't wake up until 9.30!! Not sure why I should be tired, but hey oh. We have taken all the decorations down and put them back in the loft. DH then hoovered and dusted(ish) while I took Skye for a walk around, and called round at some friends, and ended up with my tech. support hat in again. How hard can Bg make it when forgetting a password!!!! Very hard let me tell you. Came. Ack and grabbed some bits for lunch, we are going out tonight to eat, may need a snack later as not eating before 8.

While putting decorations in the loft got the stuff down for Spain as we are off on our travels again next Saturday. Had enough of winter ty very much. Also need to take a load of glass jars down to DS's for DS'sF to use for the wedding, so will be quite loaded up until we get to London. So had better get my bum in gear next week.

    Hilly. Hope to are OK
All others ((hugs)), spoons, positive vibes, hi-5's, please help yourself to your preference.

    Take care everyone. DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Yvieblue, could be boys, I don't know. My DD is great. Though.
Oooh I,ve always wanted to learn how to crochet. Can knit anything but never even picked up a crochet hook. There is a tutorial on the net. Sorry can't do links. But think I may practise with this until I feel confidant. Let me know how you get on.
Pizza tonight with salad. Looking forward to that. Then a lovely soak in the bath and a lazy evening. It's absolutely pouring it down out there.
  • Hi all,

Slept for ages last night, if a 2 day week has made me this tired than I'm worried about a full 5 days next week! Although I think I was just catching up, I've had some rubbish nights sleep since Christmas, not too sure why.

Wet and windy here too, managed to make it out to run some errands and also for a walk around town so got some fresh air even if we did come back a bit soggy! Crowds of people out still, which always stresses me out a bit, so had a big mug of tea when we got back and opened some Chrsitmas chocs - any excuse!

Cleaned the kitchen earlier and put a load through the dishwasher. Need to clean the bathroom, put away the decorations and tidy up the main rooms before Monday. Also hoping to bake something as I've not made anything since we were away over Christmas but we already have so much sweet stuff still in the house, I'm not sure I'll be allowed!

Going to cook a bargain gammon joint in a bit and probably watch one of the many series we have on the go at the moment. We also have some mulled wine left over so maybe have a small (ish!) glass of that too :p Cheap Saturday night in but I much prefer it to going out these days!

Thinking of those having a tough time at the moment.
    Emma
  • Horrid wet and cold here today :(
We popped to the farm shop this morning for some fresh veg, eggs and coal.
Nothing else needed until normal shopping Day on Thursday.

DLA form came today :( but it doesn't run out until May so I will just take my time with it, I have two major hospital appointments in February so I will not have all of the information until then. I hate having to fill it in and now that PIP has come in I dread it even more :(

Egg, bacon, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms for dinner tonight. TV is dire so I will see what I can find on line, pinterest is calling to me.

    Right better get dinner started

    Hi everyone
Went with my mum to see 'The Railway Man' this afternoon....it's a really good film, though very harrowing in places.....my mum had her eyes shut quite a lot! Well worth seeing if anyone gets the chance. Wish I'd managed to get tickets for last night though as it was the first showing.....and Colin Firth was here in our little theatre/cinema!
Apart from that, a quiet day....Tesco delivery this morning and general tidying of kitchen cupboards and freezer.
Been feeling quite ill over the last few weeks, feel breathless most of the time. I've had lots of tests that show there's nothing wrong with my heart which is good but doctor doesn't seem to know what's wrong with me....so I've an appointment with a thoracic specialist on 15th January, so not long to wait. I had to google 'thoracic specialist'......lungs and breathing
    difficulties apparently!
