A planned spend of £5.67 today on 4kg of chicken drumsticks and a kg of carrots :) These will stretch out well over the next couple of weeks. I love the Li dl weekend offers.

This made me giggle, I had a friend who used to have a water pistol to scare the cats off her plants and she offered to stand outside Asda and squirt me. I was trying to break my daily shopping habit:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

There's only me, my OH and my cat but recently we've been spending so much at supermarkets! Doesn't help that there is 2 within walking distance :o

Can you put me down for £200 please?

    Hello lovely inspirers,

I'm going for a £200 budget for March, this includes all groceries - food, household and cleaning, toiletries and pet food etc. It doesn't include eating out but not planning on doing much of that this month. It's for 3 people (2 teens) and a small dog. I may reduce the budget in months to come but for now it feels comfortable. I've tried £150 a couple of times and not managed it, but maybe one day! :)

    Good luck everyone c
  • A few bits and pieces brought at the weekend and my signature updated accordingly. The freezer and cupboards are very well stocked at the moment so only trying to buy what we actually need to try and run stocks down a bit and save some money.
    GC: Feb (16th Jan - 15th Feb) £46.25 / £50 :)
    Mar (16th Feb - 15th Mar) £61.96 / £70

Lotti it's so easy to do that isn't it?
Been shopping with OH today and hopefully I won't have to call in the supermarket for the next few days now. Last night I was so tempted to pop to Mr A's for supper but decided to make a soup with the reduced bag of mixed veg I had in the cupboard. Threw in a chopped potato and mixed herbs and it was totally delicious and it kept my money in my purse.

Rather than freezing the bread, why not freeze your made up sandwiches in advance? I do this for my DH and DS and apparently they are as good as fresh once defrosted. DH just lifts them out each evening before bed. I tend to stick to cheese, or meat fillings as these freeze well. If you wanted to add some salad Im sure you could do this on the morning once they have defrosted if you have time. Doing it this way also means you can buy a larger pack of meat which in the longrun costs less.

Do you grate or slice the cheese? This sounds like a great idea. Since my son left for Uni we are struggling to use up loaves quickly enough and are ending up with stale bread so this would solve that problem. :T
