  • Just jumping on to update. 22 pounds left for 2 weeks.... Don't think I will come in under this month especially as we have run out of fruit so need to do a fruit run today. Should have bought shares in banana plantations! Will see how close we can come. I've been rounding up to whole pounds otherwise I start getting super obsessive lol.

Off to catch up on how you are all doing! Xxx

  • Morning all. Went shopping with £60 in my purse yesterday, £40 for T, £10 for I and a some for the farm for eggs....

Didn't go to plan! A lot of deals in T and ended up spending £49 after my £5 voucher was taken off. Got a freezer full of lollies and treats for DC though. Then spent £36.50 in I and then £4.50 for 30 eggs from the farm.

Tempted to try the meat delivery posted earlier as we get through loads of meat.

Still need to go shopping again this afternoon. Forgot juice, sugar and porridge but should be NSD for rest of the week. Better update sig.

  • Quick update. The £16 shop today was a good target but I came in a bit over budget with £20.05 in Aldi. I had a list and was really hard with myself to stick to it. Apart from YS pork and a packet of pita bread I didn't buy anything extra. I even had the calculator on my phone up and kept adding things up as I went along to make sure I didn't spend too much.

I have updated my signature and now have £37.28 for the rest of the month left. Shouldn't need anything before next Monday so fingers crossed I won't go over!
    March GC £122.25/ £120
    April GC £109.83/ £65
  • Went to W/rose yesterday as had voucher £5 off £20 spend. Paid £18.00 for fruit, salad, bread & ham for the week plus got their mag and a sunday paper for free with my MyW/rose card. Worked out well with some YS and bogof and less than if I had gone to Sains as there isn't the same temptations.

Just totted up spends so far this month total is £52 so doing OK at the mo.

You know I really don't no how you guys do this for so little! My last post I said I had spent £50 which I did but I keep thinking what about next week? As my meal plan is based on a lot of stuff we had in...in fact 5 out of 7 meals is & we didn't even get any extra drink stuff this week just orange squash...I can see this epically failing... :(

I don't have a teeny budget by any means, but have you tried costing up what meals cost you? I know that things like fajitas and jambalaya (to our liking) are about £3 a head, but pork ragu, chilli & rice or egg, chips and beans are about £1 a head, so we try to regular have the cheaper meals and keep the more expensive ones as less often. Price up all your ingredents for what you like to eat, so you know which meals are actually cheaper. It might help with meal planning.... :)

    Good morning!!

I have been thinking. £61.39 left for the month and I have written a rough dinner plan of what we could have until the 31st.

I have decided this is how the money should be divided:

    Cat food: £ 9.00
    Alcohol: £ 10.00
Household stuff: £ 4.00 (hopefully only 2x Jumbo toilet paper £1.95 each from Aldi)
    Fruit/Veg: £ 12.00
    Other food: £ 26.00

    Total: £ 61.00

I realise that, with cat food and alcohol in first and second place, my priorities are wrong. VERY WRONG!! :rotfl:

Can I bore you with my repetitive dinner plan from next week? :p

16 Sun: Broccoli and Stilton soup (from freezer)
17 Mon: Lasagne + mixed salad (Lasagne sauce ready from freezer)
18 Tue: Same lasagne + steamed veg
19 Wed: Veggie cottage pie (from freezer) + mixed salad
    20 Thu: Red lentil soup
21 Fri: Martha Stewart chicken penne bake (from freezer) + steamed veg
22 Sat: Toad in the hole * + veg
    23 Sun: Mac'nCheese + mixed salad
24 Mon: Broccoli and Stilton soup (from freezer)
25 Tue: Veggie cottage pie (from freezer) + mixed salad
26 Wed: Martha Stewart chicken penne bake (from freezer) + steamed veg
27 Thu: Eggs and baked beans on toast
    28 Fri: ?
    29 Sat: ?
    30 Sun: Red lentil soup
    31 Mon: Mac'nCheese + mixed salad

    * Toad in the hole: more of a mid-week meal, but I have never done it so it is somewhat different and it "qualifies" as a week-end meal. :p
Considering to buy 8 sausages but only use 4 so that we can have something sausage-based on the fri or sat with a question mark.
Modesty apart, it looks like a sound plan to me!!! ..well, "on paper" at least..!

my meal plan has been turned on its head. DH and I took my best friend out to lunch on Saturday for her birthday, so neither of us fancied a meal for dinner (I had a sandwich before I went back to work, not sure what he had....). Then yesterday we had breakfast at lunchtime, then DH's auntie treated us to fish and chips because we brought her home from Aberdeen.

So here is an updated meal plan for the rest of the week til Thursday....

Mon - Chicken fillet with noodles and veg
    Tues - sausage casserole
    Wed - tuna fish risotto

I did some spending today, needed eggs and cheese so spent £5.72. Will be doing a roast tonight, as I had left over spaghetti last night.

Franigan: Might sound stupid but how do you do a veggie cottage pie? Is it just as simple as leaving out the meat?

Heres my meal plan for part of the month starting tomorrow:

    Tuesday - stir fry
    Wednesday - roast veg/ pasta
    Thursday - sticky chicken
    Friday - spagbol
    Saturday - chicken nuggets/wedges
    Sunday - Mince-Pie Roast
    Monday - stew
    Tuesday - tacos
    Wednesday - tuna sweetcorn pasta
    Thursday - thai chicken
    Friday - corned beef hash
    Saturday - chilli con carne
    Sunday - roast
    Monday - nasi goran
    GC July: £0/£120
