  • Well that's me just done our last shop of the month and hopefully into next month too. Two nights ago we prayed for help in stretching our food budget as far as we can...well yesterday (the next day) I opened my door and there were three bags of groceries on the doorstep. Apparently someone at church donated some money and this person knew my husband was looking for a better paying job so they figured we could use it! So now the freezer is packed with some lovely meat and we've got loads of veggies and potatoes.

Spent money on floradix as I just found out I'm pregnant and have such trouble swallowing vitamins when I feel nauseous. So that was a big £10 but it is necessary. I think I may be able to get it on prescription as I normally have slightly low iron during pregnancy, will have to check.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

  • As predicted having OH home for two weeks is going to put a strain on the GC budget. Yesterday the basket mysteriously filled with shandy, lucozade and KitKats. To be fair to him though they came from local value shop and at £1 for 5 cans of Bass shandy and 4 bottles of lucozade for £1, I can hardly complain.

My father is into bread making at the moment and has offered me the spare oven space for a loaf or two when he does his. I am tempted to take him up on it (only lives two doors away) Can anyone recommend any bread mixes or recipes for really tasty and unusual breads. Something like walnut or sun dried tomatoes?

  • All this, cupboards are bulging and yet still need other bits from Asd*; but i will hang on as long as possible til we are desperate, or nip in after work Fri/before work on Sun if it isn't worth a big shop ... probably be more like Friday as want to take advantage of the Anchor puff pastry offer, as DD is wanting to make Mexican pie on Sat

This has now gone up to full price. Grrrr @ Asd*! Would be so hard for them to just state the end date of their offers. Think this is why I prefer Tesc*.

Got back last night and found a new bottle of Listerine that my partner bought and could not tell me the price: "£2?..oh, no, less than £2..err, I didn't look at the price..I don't have the receipt" See what I have to put up with?!?! :D

Sooo, I am off to update signature now with +£2..

  • Really hoping for a NSD today but only time will tell - want to get bf a Valentines treat but that's a different budget. Might get it today if the weather stays as fine as it is now!

Not much of the budget left now with 12 days until pay day - be good to see how we get on! Shouldn't really need much as we could easily get by on what we have in plus fresh veggies but that all depends on my will/sticking power and how keen I am to say no to bf when he fancies something I haven't planned and we don't have in!

  • £13.10 added today on 10 bananas, 4 boxes of kids cereal (on offer) 6 pts milk, dbl cream and dark chocolate (to make DH some truffles for valentines day), chocolate drops for baking and belgian waffles (for DH valentines breakfast!!)

Housework is piling up and stressing me a bit (we usually catch up at the weekend but as I work at home its hard sometimes to leave it) plus am feeling a bit hormonally weepy and lazy today!!!!

Got to make these truffles for DH (cost £1.70 in cream and chocolate) as I know he enjoys HM ones, and got him a small pressie of new phone charger (very practical I know but he is always complaining he can't find the charger so I know he will like) so in the end have spent £24 on valentines stuff, we won't go out for a meal but we will get a takeaway curry and have a nice bottle of champers we were saving (I would be amazed if DH remembers its valentines day let alone gets me anything !!! he isn't very romantic - very practical!!)

    Ah well....sigh....
