    Oh silly me!

Forgot to say NSD yesterday and hopefully NSD today.

    *****

Dinner last night - the roast beef cold slices with roasted veg mash (peppers/aubergines/lots of butternut squash/garlic) with more steamed veg and gravy.

    *****

I have also recently bought a Costco membership, so may switch to an annual budget.

If anyone has any hints/tips on costco please PM me, or share here!

I've never given it a second thought. I bung everything in the freezer to eek it out that extra bit. Hubby gets mad as our freezer compartment is always full of non-descript food bags. I know what's in them....don't know what his problem is! lol ;)

Food poisoning only happens when you have meat that isn't cooked thoroughly. So make sure it's cooked through and scorching hot throughout. Defrosting is best done slowly so get some meat out before work in the morning and it'll be thawed by the time you get in. Alternatively use your microwave - the settings should be in your book or even on the front.

You can only freeze something in each state once. So once it's defrosted, use it. You can then freeze any cooked leftovers if you have too much.

This is reassuring - I was feeling embarrassed that my monthly amount is £200 for 2 adults - much higher than some of you. Last year, using tips from this forum, I brought average spend down from over £400/month to around £320. I am pleased with this, but year I am determined to stay focused and get it down even further whilst still eating well.

Dogmom - there are two of us and we should just get it down to a smidge under £200 a month this month - but that does include some wine - not DHs beer that is out of his spends.

Not sure how I'll be able to get it down any further as not much good YS stuff locally. Am going to try hard this year though!!! I have no idea what we were spending before I gave up work and started this challenge- but an awful lot used to go on cake after a bad day at work!!:rotfl:

Moomin that is actually quite good - I have £118 out of £200 to last until 28th Feb and we are not out of Jan yet - DH keeps eating stuff out of the fridge which is destined for eating in Feb - how dare he:rotfl:
    July 16 £95/£200
    Nov 16 £0/£200

Sounds like our OHs are quite similar! Mr Mooo is terrible for eating things quickly - I refuse to buy sausage rolls etc any more as he can eat a pack of six in a day  I buy him bread, lettuce etc now and he can make sandwiches with the meat that is left.

We're aiming for £200 for the two of us (plus the Fat Cat) and any month we can hit this/get under it will be a bonus. I'm not going to reduce it further unless I have to. We're at least £15 in cat food as part of this and around £12 in litter costs, so for the people in the house it's only about £175 of a budget ;)
