  • Oh dear I am in such a grump today over trying to figure out housing stuff. Rent is going to eat us alive if my husband doesn't get a pay rise soon or we get a house (which is seeming very impossible right now). Anyway, poor me, boo hoo. I really need to stop acting like a spoilt brat in my head. I could be so much worse off.

So, back to something we can control....food budget! I had our first spend of £48 from Tesco delivered. That will do us at least a week. Got extra milk and bread to put in the freezer for our last week of the month without a shop.

Burnt dinner (leftover soup) tonight so I'm making chickpea curry hopefully... :)
  • £3 spend today in small Mr T, just milk and 2 loaves of bread
  • Hi Everyone.....
Please put me down for £220. (although I am hoping to come in less than this, but will be kind to myself and drop down slowly :rotfl:)

I need to make some tweeks this month... such as looking at the actual item I am buying and asking myself if I can get it cheaper somehow, make use of more veggie recipes (did one yesterday and it went down really well) and...oh yes..bread...need to make some and get it to taste nice (now this is going to be a mission!)

Thanks and all the best for Feb....

I have updated my signature. It sounds like a few of us haven't had the best start to the month, fingers crossed for a more frugal rest of the month x :A

  • Thought I had a genius idea to stop me overspending - was going to get a Tesco gift card with my budget on so when it's empty, so will the kitchen be. Then read the small print and discovered you can't pay for groceries with it! Glad I noticed before I bought one. Still, will be moving at the end of Feb to a Sainsbug's area and they do have grocery gift cards, so might try it out then. Anyone know if I'd still get Nectar points if I paid with a gift card?

  • Hi can I please join you all, could do with the motivation of being involved in this challenge having read most days in January. Not sure what we are currently spending due to all of the little top up shops which I somehow don't manage to add to the total. Think £260 should be possible for me, hubby and our two boys.
