NSD for me.
Found a big pack of ham in the fridge, unopened and best before tomorrow eeek. Only got it last Friday. Thats what happens when the OH does the shopping, i would have been sorting through the shelves looking for the packs with the longest sell by dates!
Buttered 10 slices of bread and made sandwiches with it and put them in the freezer. Waste not want not!0 -
Weekly shoppin was £22.80 in aldi, underbudget...then I went to asda (cos I needed a wee!) and did a serious stock up on cheapies! £36.37 worth! Couldn't resist a snack from the cafe whilst on a course today, and had a meal out with friends, so £12.60 to add - taking the cost of drinks etc from another budget! Need milk this weekend which will be £1.09, so that's a final total for Feb of £89.94 - if I say it now then I can't go and spend any more! Given that included two meals out I'm pretty pleased, just over a tenner less than my GC target! Need to get it down even further though as the skint months are coming, will move over to the March thread soonish
Thanks for such a fab thread!

Another NSD
Had 2 of the grandsons for an hour or two today, so we had hotdogs for dinner lol ... Any excuse!
For tea I had some of the chicken broth I made yesterday and croutons I'd made earlier with stale bread. For pud had home made yogurt, sliced banana and honey. Lovely! DH had HM chicken chasseur out the freezer with chips of all things. He was happy though.

. I have chickpeas, salad bean mix and butter beans all in the cupboard but other than the butter beans (which I use for lovely butter bean stew) not really sure what to do with the others - any ideas??
QUOTE]
I know you have been given some lovely recipes but I tend to just use beans to pad out other stuff such as chilli, bolog and love them in soups. All helps save a bit eh
Mr T today for rolls for packups, yogurt and YS fruit = £6.00. Just realised nearly out of Hz B. Beans (staple cupboard food in our house) so punted about online and found 8 x 415 tins for £3.00 so DH stopped on way home from work as he passes Mr A and bought 16 tins :Tthink my oven on way out - had my suspicions for a while - but cooked? an apple crumble today and it didn't (cook I mean). Just went brown but not edible
Will have to have a good look tomorrow. Risotto was fine but obviously that was on the hotplate.
Hope you all have a terrific Thursday

Had another NSD yesterday which means I have broken my target for this month 16/15:T.
Today will be my last shopping day for this month but it's quite a big shop so will be way over budget for February.
Must try harder for March - that sounds just like my old school reports:rotfl:.
Will tot up later and update signature.

Nothing needed until Tuesday at the earliest which just so happens to be pay day and the start of our March grocery budget! Won't formally declare February just yet though :-)************************************

Hi everyone, I remember doing the GC challenge years ago (before I moved to this new id as i was trying to conceive) and need to get back into the habit. I still track all my spends and my shopping has crept up to a staggering amount! I'm at work and budget sheets are at home, but think I'm pushing the £450 this month! I won't declare yet as I'll still buy some things before my month ends......
I'm thinking £200-£250 as a new starting point, but would appreciate advice on anyone with similar families. There's me, hubby, a 2 year old and another baby due in 7 weeks. My 2 yo has a lactose intolerance, so he has some special requirements, but in all honesty, I don't think that adds too much extra to my budget.
My budget is pretty much everything except petrol. So my budget covers toiletries, cleaning stuff, nappies, clothes, birthdays, eating out or anything else that crops up.
Is there anyone else with a similar family size, and budget inclusions that can tell me if my target is a realistic starting point.
My month starts around the 26th of the month so I hope I can work out a sensible target ready to start the March challenge on Monday.
Thanks ladies, looking forward to March. :beer:TTC #3..........0
