  • Hi Anzac
Lamb mince is nice made into morroccan lamb balls. Mix the meat with some cooked rice, chopped fried onion, garlic, 1 tsp brown sugar and morroccan spices (any you like from cumin, coriander, chili, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, thyme). Form into little balls or burgers. You can shallow fry or bake them in a medium oven. Delicious served with lemon wedges, bread and salad.

    Hi all,

Spent £35 at Ald! today, including dishwasher tabs and soda crystals.

I have the week off, and as teens have disappeared out with their mates, will spend some time sorting kitchen cupboards out and baking some treats
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130
  • Absolutely had to do a top up shop of meat and veg etc yesterday as cupboards and fridge just about bare. Added £28.40 to monthly spend. Think will have to allow myself bigger margin next month as obviously tried to cut down too quickly.

Just catching up on 5 or so days of posts, as I have been diverted by a sick child. We didn't get to drink the Valentines Aldi Prosecco as a result so I have put it aside for another occasion.

Did have to pop out on Sunday, as I used up the very last spoon of coffee in the jar in the morning - and bought a few other top-up items. Will update my figures once I have dug out the receipt.

Just working on meal plans/list now for the week ahead.

  • I've been pretty busy recently so haven't been able to get on here for a while, goodness knows how many pages of the thread I need to catch up on!

I've been out food shopping more than I thought and DH is terrible for always wanting to pick up extra items but we haven't been too extravagant so never mind :)

Spends to report since I last posted:
    £1.39 on milk in Tesco
£8.78 in Morrisons: snacks, YS pork pies, garlic bread, and 2 huge steaks that were half price for Valentine's Day meal.
£23.79 in Aldi on the weekly shop
£8.65 in Farmfoods: DH got a couple of packs of Pukka Pies to bung in the freezer for a naughty treat when needed, 2 Pot Noodles for him to take to work if he's doing a long shift, cereal bars, milk, and 8 boxes of Special K Cracker Crisps that were only 29p per box due to March BBE.

I've been making sure I make bread still rather than buying it, I can't imagine ever eating supermarket bread again now that I'm used to making my own, it tastes so much nicer!

Hope everyone is doing well :) Thank goodness the weather has been a little nicer recently! Long may it continue x
Thank you to everyone who posts on here :)

need to update my signature yet, but had a biiiggg grocery spend today.

Did my 'once an offer book' trip to Costc0, and came home with 3 trays of mince (6.6kg) and 3 trays of stewing steak (4.2kg) which is now split into bags of roughly 500g (x13) and 420g (10) respectively in the freezer. Also 12 x 250g bacon which still needs splitting into bags of 2 rashers (don't use much at a time) before squeezing into the freezer.

A few items I need to get the money back from DS1 for and one non grocery item to deduct, but looks like just over £87 from my budget.

Plus a small spend (around £5) in Mr A.

And then first petrol fill up of the year which is from another budget but made it a very expensive trip out

Also looking at ordering a couple of (non-grocery) items on-line as it's not an NSD.

A nsd today and a curry is already made for tomorrows dinner and a stew is made and frozen for Thursday so we should get through to pay day on Friday on £5 max :o
Taking out the stew on Thursday and a few other bits will hopefully make space for chicken drumsticks on Saturday. Li dl has them on the weekend half price deal at just over a £1 a kilo :j I'll buy 5pkts to last us a while.
