Actually, after those last two replies, I don't feel I have the energy to read and respond any more. I get the hint.
I very much appreciate everyone who showed patience and tried to help.
What hint? I didn't hint, I told you very clearly and concisely about a valuable source of information on the topic you're asking about!
If you were already aware of pubmed and think I was being deliberately patronising, I assure you that's not the case.
I'm not really sure why you started the thread now!0 -
You have "Thanked" Errata's rather rude post. S/he has suggested twice that I probably wouldn't get help on here. It's not exactly encouraging me to hang around on this Forum thread! So that's what I meant by "hint".Person_one wrote: »What hint? I didn't hint, I told you very clearly and concisely about a valuable source of information on the topic you're asking about!

Your last post was quite empathic, but previously you were borderline-dismissive. Of course, that is only through viewing words on a screen, where things can get misconstrued.
I realise that any emotionally-wrought situations on Forums are difficult and sometimes elicit thoughtless responses from others. I have had a very bad few days myself, but I won't go into that.
I'm in no mood to participate any more in this thread. As I said before, I appreciate those who were able to give me some of their time and experiences.0 -
I don't think Errata was rude, just realistic.
When you post on a busy forum like this you have to be prepared for a variety of opinions, not just sympathy and agreement. You might even get defensive responses from some of the people you slag off.

I have already considered and mentioned what you said. It's just unfortunate I'm not feeling too great myself and I'm responding to the more negatively minded sorts who are best ignored. We get them in real life, after all. In future I will tune out such white noise.
I'd add a passive-aggressive emoticon myself but 1) I'm not that immature and 2) I can't be ars!d.0 -
I don't know how a lay person can start to unbundle the cause and effect of concurrent Addisons, T1 diabetes, a serious head injury, query PTSD, cancer, depression, erectile dysfunction, a heamatoma (head?) - all of which require input from half a dozen medical specialisms.
How many consultants does he see for regular review and how often do they see him?
Sometimes when you see lots of different consultants, particular ly for things that interact or counteract (I don't pretend to understand op's partners conditions) the lay people ( patient and family/ partner )ARE the people left unbundling the causes and effects, reminding consultants of other consultants advise, or what they cannot do because it will aggravate another problem, or what they have been told they much do to stop something else occurring when a consultant says....'stop doing that"
Too many cooks spoil a broth and when you see a lot of consultants I have found sadly I am much like a soup.
. It does make sense to be as well informed as you can be. Ultimately, I have control over this old body, not them, and thus its me who will make any final decisions. I can only trust their advice (some of which in the past has been dangerously wrong because of the too many cooks or not listening to what I'm saying) if I understand the picture. 0 -
My mother has Addison's but not diabetes, although a lot of other autoimmune diseases (hypothyroidism, lupus etc). She does have mood swings, generally depressive in nature and can be quite irrational when in one of her depressive periods. She isn't on any medication for them and refuses to speak to either her endocrinologist or GP about them. We (my father and I) tend to manage her through them but I must admit as she is getting older they are getting worse. Generally her Addison's is well-controlled and we insist she goes to an annual check-up with a specialist (often she doesn't want to go) - given that a lot of health care professionals are really clueless about Addison's and what it is, it is really important to maintain specialist oversight.
OP - not sure about links with diabetes but Addison's can cause mood swings and i'd really suggest you ensure he maintains specialist contact. Good luck0 -

Sorry people, I know it's annoying.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

You are right and his well-being is the most important thing. I didn't think I'd revealed too much, although the events I related are unique to him (never mentioned any names or too many specifics)..I will err on the side of caution..all edited out.
I know how annoying it is when MSE members see "Edit" littered all over previous posts but this thread had reached some sort of conclusion anyway. Of course I want to respect everyone concerned.
Thank you again for the nice PMs and thoughtful replies. Hopefully we can find our way to a more harmonious future

You actually did have the same emoticon on the above post before you very quickly changed it.
Lots of people disagree on here and posts can easily be misinterpreted.0
