Thanks Happygreen and rogueylawyer, but I think I'll go with some nematodes and organic slug bait that had some good reviews on the internet.

Had a word with OH about not using my greenhouse for storage.
How about this for a wacky idea :rotfl:

We have a round metal storage water tank on the place, 10ft high x 15ft wide, standing on a concrete base. The liner has perished and to replace it would be well into 4 figures. So OH suggested taking liner out and cutting a door in the metal and replacing the solid roof with perspex - might even paint it!! cheap cheerful and useful for storage and I'll get my greenhouse back.:j

Brilliant repurposing (hey, I made a new word I think) idea! I planted the beans out yesterday, I'll check later today if they are happy with the repurposed kiddies' old climbing frame :rotfl:

Used coffee grounds has kept the little blighters off my cabbages so far :D

Cat hair or cut human hair is also meant to be quite good but I've not tried any of those yet. I will do shortly though

Yep I have poultry - how much hair?
Don't answer that - 3 alpacas and electrified fencing to 8ft high does the same job. :D

    Runner beans now in.
    Carrots starting to germinate.
How long does it take for leeks to germinate, I've looked really hard and can't see any emerging, they've been in 2 weeks?
Found a few more strawberries lurking between docks - moved them. I'm not interested in producing strawberries this year - more interested in the runners for next year.
2 more big docks have hit the compost heap - slowly slowly

    jobs for my 1hr today
bamboo canes for French and runner beans
put fleece around carrots and parsnips against the dreaded carrot fly.
pot into larger pots my emerging squash - no bed for them ready yet
If I do half of those jobs I'll be happy

Happygreen - love the use of your child's climbing frame - maybe we could start a new trend of wacky/funky garden ornaments.:rotfl:

LittleyDog decided the pots with tomatoes in is a good place to sit, so they are now in recovery. I was able to feed guests yesterday with produce from the garden, go me.
