  • My sister was overcharged on a dress she bought a couple of weeks ago and when she went back they gave her the £2 card automatically.

    For the second time in a row I have been overcharged for items in my shopping. Both times I brought the matter to the attention of customer services and was simply given a refund of the overcharge . I tentatively asked the first time about the £2 gift card and was refused because "we dont do that any more".
    Well okay. I checked when I got home and saw this on the Asda site;

    What happens if I am overcharged?
    If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.

    So I rang the Customer service at the store and was told that "just this once" I could have a card. When I returned to the store I had to fill out a form that suggested I returned an item. The girl on the counter said that the £2 card is not given any more and that the money would have to come out of her till !!

    Today I was overcharged again-got my money back but definitely no card-same reason given.I quoted the website advice and what had happened previously. No card.

    Before I send off an email to CS can anytone tell me what the real policy is?
    I didnt have a go at the girl -she was only doing what was told to do -but why should I have to jump through hoops when they say they will gladly deal with it as above?:mad:

    I can confirm they have to give you £2 gift card whether it is self service till or manned as I was refused one a month back I wrote to the head office I just received £10 giftcard as an apology just 10 minutes ago. Now I'm going to keep that letter in my bag.

    Not quite sure why you have resurrected a thread over 18 months old, but ........

    Firstly they don't HAVE to do anything beyond offer a refund of any overcharge if you want to keep the item, or a full refund if you don't.

    Secondly, even IF a £2 gift card is offered in addition to any refund, this does NOT ALWAYS apply if the Self Scan checkouts are used.
    This is because it is possible that the customer "DELIBERATELY ENGINEERED" the overcharge themselves by the way they scanned the item.
    If an ASDA employee "mis-scans" an item then is almost certainly in error for which ASDA are liable.

    As for the much earlier point, reduced items can be discounted by whatever amount the store so decides.
    If on a multi-buy, £2 each or 2 for £3, an item has reached its Use by/Sell by/Best Before date and is offered at £1.75 then that's the price you have to pay IF you only want ONE of them.
    It DOES NOT have to be reduced to or below the "mutli-buy price" of a single unit, which in this example would be £1.50

    You want to buy the product at £1.50, then BUY TWO OF THEM
    If you only want one, and £2 is too much, then take the one reduced to £1.75 and lump it !
