The cheapest & easiest way I can find at the mo is Dover - Calais, then drive 3.5hr. Has anybody tried it that way??

we always do it that way

the way I look at it is if the ferry costs £80 Dover - Calais
and its £240 for Portsmouth - Caen

Am I really going to spend £160 in petrol driving the distance from Calais to Caen .... NO

What am I going to see for 6 hours on a ferry with kids that won't sleep ? nothing
But I can drive and do rest stops and see historic or such sites on my drive down if I do a little research
We can even go a day earlier and stop off at a cheap motel for less than the cost of the more expensive ferry and see more of the country we are visiting

SunPlus is a great stinking CON

I have been religiously collecting the codes from the newspapers every day in order to activate my SunPlus membership for the following month

I had a letter from them saying that as a SunPlus member I wouldnt need a reference number or to collect tokens and even though I've booked before the letter didnt even HAVE a priority reference number on it

And now I find out that the "no token" offer is only available to FEE PAYING Sun Plus members ie those who pay £15 for the privilege

Luckily thanks to brother in law giving us their reference number we have been able to book but I feel totally duped and I know I'm not the only one!

I am a FEE paying Sun+ member. Well my hubby is. He feels duped that he is missing out on all these vouchers. I joined on a trial for a Morrisons vouchers. However we got the letter too about not needing code words or a reference number. I didn't trust it so still wrote down the code words here. Luckily a letter and pack came with our reference number. I couldn't book via Sun+ last night on my hubby's fee paying account! Very angry and had to wait for the final code to be cracked. Luckily we managed to get our first choice date and park which we are happy with as last year we used over £300 worth of Tesco vouchers!!! Shocking!!

Also a major issue is the sun perks days out vouchers. It lists a few play areas near me as 2 for 1 showing sun membership card. Anyway I popped along to play area and they have never heard of this offer. They let me in on a 2 for 1. The next time I went in a few weeks later, the lady told me that she contacted head office regarding the promo as she had not heard of it. Head office wrote back saying there is NO promotion with the Sun for 2 for 1. I felt embarrassed and like a criminal. I showed her the website to prove myself but luckily she saw the funny side of it. How can the sun advertise this?

To be honest the perks stuff is !!!!!!

I did manage to book our first holiday last night with the help from people on here so I am extremely happy and grateful. I was trying to do it so quick in case it crashed, that when it came to asking if we wanted insurance for £9.50 i clicked yes but never took down the phone number to contact them if you have a pre existing medical condition, thinking that it will be in the cornfirmation email, which it wasnt. It also said you must contact them straight away, so i f anybody can get me the number i would be most grateful, Milki x
