I want to buy a new HD TV WITHOUT freeview built in - possible?

Since I don't watch TV as it's broadcast, I don't need Freeview, cable, or satellite and I don't need a TV licence. The only new HD TVs on sale these days seem to have Freeview built in. If I get one of these I have to have a licence. So I only want a TV that can't pick up a broadcast signal - ie, no Freeview. Does anyone know where I can get one?

You don't have to get a licence if you don't use it.... Just like you wouldn't need a licence if you had a TV and a seperate freeview box (which could be stored away somewhere)!

You just don't connect an aerial to it.

Does not work like that, they turn up with a form, lie about what it is.just sign this blah blah.
    It is a TVL 178
Once that is signed, you get fined at magistrates, there is no excuses.
    Be happy...;)

Would a large computer monitor suit your purpose ?
  • No, teddysmum, it needs to be a TV for playing DVDs on the DVD player.

A monitor will allow you to play DVDs through it, as long as you have speakers. I've got a 24" monitor in front of me right now with DVI/HDMI inputs, so I can play DVDs and Blurays through it.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Might be better to use a project if you have a clear wall?
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

And when purchasing, just give a house different number and/or postcode if possible.
That will too keep the TVL off your case.

What screen size does the monitor/TV have to be?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
