It find it extremely frustrating to read some of the comments made about delivery companies on various forums when most people commenting are far too quick to point the finger at the delivery agent rather than the customer that they have purchased from.
Your supplier tells the delivery agent how they want the goods delivered i.e. signed for or left on the door step. Their choice and that drives costs for them.
How many customers actually thought how easy it is for a delivery agent to find you ? Do you have the house number on your property ? Is the address that has been provided accurate with the correct address and a contact number. If you live in a house that is named, can it been seen from the road ? Imagine actually being that driver for 5 minutes trying to find you.
I purchase a lot of goods on line and have received deliveries from all companies and the service has been excellent from all of them because when I purchase on-line, I know that someone I be in the house to receive the goods or someone else will be and not expect the courier to be physic to know when I am in or not ?
From my experiences of being in the industry, many customers actually claim to be in all day when evidence can now be provided to pinpoint where the driver is during the day to have to prove that they are outside your house but nobody rang the door-bell rubbish !!!!
I think that many internet purchasers should think a bit more about where they are going to be to receive the goods before ordering and then blaming the delivery agent and having a rant about poor service.
I also read complaints about damaged goods all the time. Do you think that courier companies practice trying to be Johnny Wilkinson with every parcel ? The main reason that goods become damaged when traveling through a sortation network is poor packaging and cost cutting from the supplier, not the delivery agent again.
Yup,but people can only go on the experience they get
good,bad or misrepresented.
every company has bad press online
Mind talking to somebody the other day. Yodel left a package in their works yard behind the bins.(royal mail delivery office),whilst the package was actually for the towns Post Office
I recently posted a guitar worth £1200 with TNT. The guitar has since vanished in their system and is lost without a trace. They are offering me a measly £100 compensation. I am absolutely furious and disgusted and will be taking legal action. I urge anyone not to use TNT!

Well no doubt you used a service with £100 cover
why would you expect more?

I posted the guitar at a postal services shop called MBE. I didn't check what the cover was and wrongly assumed that my item would be delivered safely as I thought I was using a reputable company who didn't steal items. Perhaps this was stupid/naive of me. At no time was I made aware that the cover was so low.

Its for you to ensure you are covered
Especially with a high value, fragile item
Quite amusing to read some of the above - surely if you order something and expect delivery then you would make yourself available to receive. I don't believe that any delivery driver would attempt delivery and not leave a card - this is just excuses that people make when they missed the delivery and then they love to slate and blame the delivery company - in this case Yodel. They all do a very good job when you consider the amount of parcels delivered each day especially approaching christmas. In my view the "lost souls" that spout to Twitter and threaten other such things have little else to do apart frpm try to pick fault with evrything. They should get a job and stop being so anal
For the first time EVER I am actually rating Yodel (I know, I can't believe it either)
Our Yodel delivery person is a lovely lady, and she's always delivered on time - or to our neighbour safely, and I had 3 parcels come by Yodel, I'll admit my heart sank when I saw it was coming via them but I had not a single issue with them this Christmas
DPD however.... parcel expected by 09:30-10:30, I had to go to work at half 5 in the evening...it arrived at 20:00!! Thankfully someone was in to collect it, as much fun as staying in all day tracking the darn thing was!

Maybe you don't believe it, but I personally watched a postman deliver a 'while you were out card' as I was walking past my front door. I then chased him around the corner and he claimed he didn't do it and blamed it on a 'van that just drove off'.
In 2011, Which surveyed customers of Royal Mail and this is what they found.
"Which researchers questioned 2,500 Britons and collated the experiences of another 3,923 who kept diaries of their postal deliveries.
They found householders were particularly annoyed to receive a ‘while you were out’ card when they were in fact at home.
Which said: ‘Fifty-one per cent experienced this in the past year.
‘This was echoed by our diarists. Sixteen per cent of those who got a “while you were out” card reported receiving one while they were at home.
An eagle-eyed 6 per cent actually saw the card arrive without receiving a knock on the door.’
Some customers suspected postmen of deliberately leaving packages at the post office because they could not cope with heavy loads and long rounds. Instead, they dished out the cards so customers had to collect the parcels."

Not so impressed with the TalkTalk salesman not mentioning the delivery charge for the "free" YouView box.
PS. I wonder how many peoples' Christmases Yodel spoiled this year? I have a joke about them, but you probably wouldn't get it.
