PIP Decision

Hello All, I rang DWP on 31 Dec to see if any Christmas miracles had occurred, and had they received my report from ATOS yet. I nearly dropped the phone in shock and cried after being informed that - not only had they received my report back from ATOS (on 20th) and decision had been made on the 24th - obviously the hold up is ATOS. The lady very kindly, over the phone, told me that I had been awarded PIP and that a letter had been sent out, with all back payments to July issued on the same day (24th), she then said that it would take up to 4 working days to reach my bank account and I should get the letter through the post any day now - again the delay probably due to Christmas post. My question is - as of today I still have not received the decision letter and no money has gone into my bank account - how do you work out 4 working days over the Christmas shutdown? I am so relieved that this process is virtually over - but need to see the letter in my hand or funds in my account to really believe it. Appreciate any advice. Good luck to all other forum members still waiting - I really hope that you all hear very soon  x
P.S. My friend has just told me that I need to tell working tax credits that I have been awarded PIP because it is extra income - and I have now probably been overpaid tax credits since July. Will they understand me letting them know now - as I have only just found out myself - or am I going to have to pay back a lump sum. Will appreciate any advice before I phone them. Thank-you.

Hi so pleased for you i still haven't heard anything i rang new years eve to be told its still with atos mine is from june . as for informing wtc as far as i know PIP /DLA is none means tested that means it can't be taken into account for any other benefits you should ring up welfare rights to check but i dont think you will lose any money you may actually get a disability preium on top .0

this may help understand how you get extra money on WTC when you get PIP0 -
Sorry to hear that you are still waiting, but DWP seem to be quick on the ball when they finally receive the reports back. Have just read the working tax credit link, and husband is going to phone - but would rather wait and have the letter in my hand first. At least it is not counted as income - that was my real worry, that I was going to be owing money. If I get a bit extra ??? I do hope that you get to hear something soon.0

I thought maybe I might have been in the same boat so just rung DWP then ATOS. Nope, still being audited, despite being told it had been escalated a couple of weeks before Christmas, pretty fed up now.0

Congratulations on getting your award - it must be a huge weight off your mind. If the decision was made on 24th December, then the first working day would be Fri 27th, then Mon 30th, then Tues 31st and then lastly today, Thursday 2nd.
However, I would allow a couple of extra days, and hopefully the money should be in your account by Monday. Letters are sent 2nd class post, and take forever.
My friend received a letter giving the decision, and listing how the amount was calculated, about 3 weeks after she had the money!
Good luck, and a great start to the New Year for you.

Thank-you Scarlett, I will keep an eye on the bank as well as the post.
I would also like to thank all other forum members who have been such a huge support to me during this claiming process - it can be a horribly bewildering time when you are sick.
Dancer, I really hope that you hear very soon - I think that yours is now probably the longest wait since assessment (or at least close too) that I have read on the boards so far.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you all x0 -
925dancer i was told exactly the same about 3 month ago i going to ring next week and tell them i have involved my MP they don't know this yet but i have heard that other people that have involved MP's and told Atos its seems that it has rushed through . people that have had claims in less time that me i know that .0

think i am the longest atm i applied 6th june and assessed 29th august on week 30 since applied week 18 since assessment . might go for a record . mind if i don't get it i will go to papers over this .0

You're longer than me smudge. I applied July, assessed October. I have now emailed my MP (who isn't back in the office until Monday). Mine is mental health related and it's just making it all much worse when I should be concentrating on trying to get my life back together. Instead whether I can afford to keep paying my rent or not hangs in the balance with ATOS.
I couldn't get sick in 3 years when I turn 35 and qualify for the one bedroom rate could I!?0 -
Sorry Smudge, I confused your dates with Dancers. Yep, I think that you are officially one of the longest standing still waiting - should start a thread whereby all PIP claimants post the length of time from enquiry, to form, to appointment, to decision. I really do hope that you hear soon, good luck x0
