    Hello everyone

Not much going on OS here for me as I am at work, as I always seem to be when I post on here. Much easier than when I am at home with two little uns running around! When I left this morning, they were both still snoring their little heads off, but they have had a few late nights, so won’t blame them too much.

Yesterday wasn’t very OS either, lounged around my friends’ house where me and the mini sproglettes stayed over at a New Year party. Yep, I was a little tired, but not too tender, so all was good.

My OS plan for this month is sober January! And so far, so good. Although it’s only been one day I know, but hey, still proud of myself! Still waiting for my book “Kick the Booze… Easily” to arrive to see if it will encourage me all the more.

Am going to have to pop to shops after work as I have been away at my parents over Xmas and New Year and my brother (who I live with) has managed to eat pretty much all the fresh stuff. Mum made a loaf of bread and brought it up with her this morning (she minds the girls while I work), so that was good of her.

Meal planning is starting a little bit. I’ve always kept a list of what I feed the girls, but now I want to feed them something different and new once a week. The next time I have to cook them dinner (what with my mum cooking and them going to their dad’s for the weekend) is next Monday, so thinking a slow cook chicken dish to see if they like it. Tonight I think mum is making them something with sausages as they was pretty much the only thing useful for her to cook in the fridge!

Kids’ beds are being changed today as I bought new duvets and pillows with my Xmas bonus (although I’m not doing anything OS, I can post on my mum’s behalf as I do pay her to mind kiddies – okay, that bit’s not OS, but I have no choice).

My xmas tree will probably stay up until the weekend only cos I can’t be bothered to take it down. My cousin is visiting tomorrow and tea and chatting is much more important!

No dog to walk today as she is having a holiday down at my parents’ house. Thought it was best to leave her there as I was out New Year’s and didn’t want her getting scared by any fireworks. And it will be best if she is not at mine tomorrow as she is a bouncy staff and my cousin has a girl who is just walking and she will end up sprawled on the floor. My girls can take it now they are a bit bigger.

Tru – sounds far too complicated for me. Wish I could be interested in something like growing plants, just haven’t got the patience I think.

Sistercas – Is it difficult to become a member of Costco? There is one near me, but last time I went in to see if I could become a member, the queue was huge and I’d left my youngest asleep in the car in the car park, so couldn’t hang around. I don’t think I fit any of the criteria though which is a bit unfair. Why can only certain people shop in Costco?

Jacksmummy – thinking of buying a bingo game as it will help my girlies with their numbers. And it will be fun as well!

I absolutely agree with you there - I've always felt that "retail therapy" is an oxymoron!:o

Oh, how I agree. Just got back in from the shops feeling all hot and bothered. Now I remember why I haven't been to the shops in months.

    Happy Birthday to Mr MH.

The soup was delicious. Have enough left over for tomorrow.

    Afternoon all

Jackie O we also took the decorations down yesterday.

Today had a trip to Weston Super Mare for a nice bracing walk along the seafront in the sunshine(and a look round the shops).

It would be nice to have two sunny days together.....fingers crossed!

Turkey, salad, pickles and chips for tea. Yay no cooking!

OH cooked a Turkey dinner yesterday as we were invited out to friends for Christmas day and he wanted to do his own for New Year. Maybe a turkey and leek pie tomorrow......

LW I bought some reasonably priced nuts today in one of those dried fruit/nuts shops so will make your famous nut loaf/roast shortly.

Just enjoying a cuppa and a sit down now.

Hugs and kind thoughts to all who need them.

    Have a lovely evening all.

  • Evening all, and thanks to everyone for the warm welcome :)

Well, back to work today. Some days I have to be in by 7:30 and today was one of those days, not the most fun way to start the New Year! A little disappointed that yesterday was such bad weather and we couldn't go out, yet today we have blue skies but I was stuck at work, typical!

Just a quick one to check in and send wishes to those feeling sad or poorly. Got to dash as we are having leftover roast beef in a stir fry, yummy! Also need to put a sourdough bread on to rise overnight. Think I will find something to watch after my first day back and put my feet up, I'll leave the decorations until the weekend. We didn't put a lot up anyway as we were away for most of Christmas.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

    Evening all,

day didn't pan out quite as planned as DH found a parking ticket on the car: he had forgotten to renew the residents' permit last month: £25 stupidity tax :(.

DS has gone back now, but spent an hour up a ladder helping me hang the IKE* fleece liners I made weeks ago inside the curtains. We also replaced any missing curtain hooks etc so the windows should be less draughty - just in time by the sound of the weather reports!

After DH came back from sorting the permit etc we made a CS run & then bought a new toilet seat. He got paint on the current one when he painted the toilet walls & it seems to have soaked in. As it was a shade of taupe it looked like ...ummm....

I hope everybody stays safe in the coming bad weather.

  • Welcome to all the newbies

Lovely day here and not too cold, so three loads of washing have been done and more or less dried on the line, just airing the last few bits in front of the stove.
I have another two loads left to do and will try and get them done tomorrow, weather permitting.

Went and got the week's shopping today and it only came to £18.37 to last us until next Thursday, that includes 18 toilet rolls, washing powder and softener:j

We need to get some veg from the market and need go to the farm shop on Saturday for 50kg coal, 30 fresh eggs and a joint of their lovely pork so about another £30, but the coal lasts for ages and I am in credit of just over £200 to BG because we have been using the stove during the day instead of the CH :D

We had Turkey flan, chips and peas for dinner tonight and it was lovely and there is enough left for lunch tomorrow :)

Right I am off to pour a drink and settle for the evening

    Good Evening All

Late post from me as I agreed to go work with OH today - so was up and out at silly o clock .

Had lunch out so was just dripping on toast for dinner, love it, the rest of the family think I am mad.

So no real OS for me today. Cant wait for tomorrow, DD is at her boyfriends, OH at work and DS will be in bed till lunchtime so I will have the house to myself - I havent had that since 2 weeks before Christmas  I do like my own company.

Will definitely be washing all the floors in the house tomorrow, little dog is having her first season and its not pleasant :o needs a general tidy up as well as DS been home alone all day.

Lots of the local areas are on flood alert tonight, luckily we are at the top of the village on higher ground so we are rarely affected - fingers crossed it isnt too bad for anyone.

Anyway, thats it for me. Have a lovely evening.

Julie67 - least it gets done in one hit - fingers crossed all goes ahead ok.

    Hello all!
First working day of the year decluttered, and it was a doozie!
Been a funny couple of days, both DD and DS were out to parties on Hogmanay, so I was home alone and more than a tad emotional, so in a way was glad to be back at work today! " friends are coming for drinkies and dinner on Saturday as they weren't celebrating either, so looking forward to that, think I will make a lamb curry, so just need to think of a starter and think I have a meringue dessert in the freezer so less to buy.
Oh well, need to think about bed, up by 5 to do it all again tomorrow.
Welcome to the newbies, and hugs where needed!

Made a big pot of casserole using beast cheeks, onions and peppers and served it with mashed potatoes, green beans and mange tout.

Had left over chicken lasagne with green veg for dd who won't eat beef.

Realised my using a hand blender for home made soup had chopped big dents out of my posh cast iron pot :o:o so decided to use my Ne*tar points today and got a half price orange oval casserole pot as well as three double fitted sheets.

DD goes to visit friends tomorrow and has asked me to do pizza whirls to take so will do there early afternoon and use up the lamb cutlets i found in the freezer to make a stew with carrots, onions and turnip that needs using up. Might do a pea and ham soup as well as DH loves that.

Started taking some decs down and can't wait to get back to normal. Hope that does not sound miserable ;)

Got a load of towels and bedding sorted out and airing cupboard tidied and took books back to library and got eggs from market as well as sorting out kitchen and cleaning worktops and floor so quite pleased with myself.

    Hugs to all.
