OS Daily Thread Thursday 2nd Jan 2014 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Still quite dark, wet underfoot and still windy here this morning.
DH up and getting ready for work. I'm up enjoying a peaceful cuppa. Boys still in their pits, they can get up at their leisure.
Yesterday was very chilled and relaxed - really didn't do anything, watched tv, spent quite a while on pc doing some caravan work and researching a couple of things.
Today's plan is to crack on with the washing, drying and ironing - really not that much - and what is there won't generate much ironing etc, but I want to keep on top of it all. I have all the tableclothes, napkins etc from Christmas to launder and put away etc. I do need some more bread, sandwich meats, milk, and something for tonight's dinner - but will just go to L**l's for these, and I won't be spending much as will do a food shop tomorrow when I do my normal Friday chores.
We were naughty yesterday and had a takeaway at lunchtime, but then didn't really want much else the rest of the day, the menfolk fancied HM mince pies with custard at tea time so that's what they had. I just fancied some crackers and a very small portion of cheese. Fridge is really quite bare, still have some fruit, salad and veg, so will check later what's ok to use and what I actually need. I'm really going to try to keep a grip on the food shopping spending as it seems to have got so expensive. But with this in mind I know this Christmas I haven't thrown away anywhere near the same amount of food that I have in previous years - I've actually put some thought in to using ingredients up before it's unusable - or getting it made into "something" and then freezing for a later date. I don't think this year I've bought as much either - so haven't had huge quantities to deal with. All of my HM Christmas cake has now been eaten, but the HM Christmas puds haven't been touched, so there's 2 of those and a ready made bought one, so have some desserts there. I still have a good quantity of HM mince pies left too.
Need to crack on a get a shower and some brekkie.
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
Hello to all the new people :hello: I've made coffee for everyone :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee:
I feel sooooo relaxed. It has nothing to do with the fact that mr tru is going back to work today
I'm taking the decorations down today then I'll give the lounge a good dusting. I'll clean a wall in the kitchen too. I forgot to print my calendar the other day, so will get that done in a mo. My lists are taking shape, I also feel A Plan coming on.
I have loads of holly, I thought I'd try to grow some from seed. I've only looked at two sites so far, they both say to freeze then defrost the berries a few times to make sure they crack. Cracked berries?! I thought it would be a case of either plant the berry, or dry out then plant the berry. I have a feeling I'll end up in a garden centre buying plants

Good morning all.
Dh is back to work today, hence why I have been up since 5.30. Wm done and now drying on the airer which I will put outside when it gets light. Got my brother visiting today which will be nice as we haven't seen each other for a few months. He is a metal dectector and wants to scan the fields behind our house, which is good as the landowner has agreed to as if he finds anything he donates half of the cash earned after selling to the hospice (my sil passed last year from breast cancer) and 25% to the landowner. The rest is his costs and travel expenses.
We are going out tonight to eat as the local pub is having a curry night and has discounts to get people in.
Our springer spaniel is turning circles at the mo, so I think his irritable bowel is playing him up, so no food for him this morning. Used to spend a fortune on vet bills for this to be told the same thing 'starve for 24hours'
Might bake some bread today for the freezer while I have time.
Had a productive day yesterday. We was given a bag of clothes for dd and some of them she didn't like , so after a little sewing and altering she now has 3 extra tops she loves ( I love up cycling).
Anyhoo better get the bread on the go.
Hugs to all xxBright Blessings xx0 -
Morning:)
Had a very lazy day yesterday so must get a bit done today.
I need to tackle the ironing pile whilst at the same time adding to it by doing a couple of wash loads - it really is a vicious circle.
Firstly I need to jump in the shower before getting youngest up and dropping him off to play golf with his friends.
Will also drop in for a cuppa with my parents (who will no doubt ask me when I'm going to start my New Years' diet!).
I'm another who needs Bread, Milk and Sarnie fillings! I also want to cut down on grocery spending though - it really got quite ridiculous last year, so I will stick to those three essentials and no more.
I need to do a grocery shop at the weekend so I'm hoping to put aside some time to look through some meal ideas on here today for some inspiration.
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Morning all,
Its stopped raining ! but we are due more tomorrow along with more storms.
Off to work for me I am the only one in the house going, OH got up and went to work only to find no one on the job so came home again ! Him and dd can do a few jobs around the house and hang the washing for me.
Fajhitas for dinner tonight which dd will cook, and a delivery from Tesco is coming. I did quite well at xmas with the food shopping and really only bought what we needed with very little waste so needed a normal shop.
Sistercas how rude of them all !
Have good days all xx0 -

Good morning all,
Very dull here at the moment. At least the rain has stopped for now and the wind has dropped.
Wm is on. Ironing to do. I would like to get the tree down today. That shouldn't take too long.
Not going out today as dd has got to do a 24 hour urine collection. Can't stray too far from home. I will probably take the dog out for a walk at some point.
Tea tonight is cauliflower cheese (from the freezer) for oldest dd and myself and mushroom omelette or curry for hubby and other dd.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning All
Got a sore throat again this morning, didn't have too good a sleep either but I think that was partly down to eating too much steak pie and sticky toffee pudding at friends last night. Also had a couple of glasses of wine which usually means I don't sleep too well.
Gosh it really rained last night, so much so that there must be a leak at the front of our house somewhere and the water was dripping in through the living room ceiling! Must go out for a look in a bit. The rain was driving that way too which didn't help.
Washing to do today, DD is back at work. Took the decorations down yesterday, just need to make tags out of the cards today and have a quick clean round. Not sure what else will be going on.
I think we will have salmon for tea, will get it out of the freezer, something a little lighter than the last few weeks I think!
Welcome to Newbies, big hugs to Molly and Hilstep and anyone else feeling under the weather. Sistercas - what a shame no-one came.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Blue sky :j:j will definitely ,almost definitely , probably , might go for a walk
redruby very rude but unfortunately very typical . Still,we have mountains of food to eat
Need to pick up some loo roll , I normally bulk buy from c0stc0 ( their own brand) but forgot before Xmas and ended up buying supermarkets own , the rolls didn't seem to last 5 minutes  the rolls were loosely wound and soon ran out so it's back to c0stc0 , they must be the marine of loo rolls :rotfl::D
Going to have a fry,up for breakfast me thinks
Have a good day all xx
Welcome to the newbies :hello:0 -
Morning all,
Nice coffee - thanks Tru!
DH & Ds are still in their pits. Son goes home today, so I'll be back to normality again, with DH spending all evening staring at his tablet, not talking. When DS is around they both stare at their tablets, not talking - so I'm ignored in stereo. And neither of them can get me off the level I'm stuck on in Candy-thingy!
Plans for today: wash DS bedding & remake bed; update freezer list; do something with my quilt or start on repainting the CS fire screen (I want to paint it & replace the picture in it with wallpaper so it matches the room).
Rumblings overhead suggest DH is moving about - he goes back to work on Monday so the alarm will be switched on again
Thinking of Hilstep
Hugs all round xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
