Theres loads of threads where people are looking for car recommendations, but what about motorbikes?
Budget of up to 3k, it's purely for enjoyment.
Only really used for days out with an occasional commute. I would probably use it through out the year except snow/ice.
Getting older, so probably a more upright riding position.
I'd like it to have a bit of get up and go.
So any ideas?

Something like the Yamaha FZS600 Fazer might suit you. Plenty of poke without being too manic, comfortable riding position and for your budget you'd get a nice example.0

If you want enjoyment go for a fireblade.0
-
Not sure if I like the look of the fazer, I've looked at fireblades before though, and think they're a good looking bike.0

Utter enjoyment, but not quite an upright riding position. It's a pure race bike.Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Fully upright is hopefully not needed quite yet lol.
More like the gsxr more severe than the cbr.0 -

In my opinion the best choices for those requirements (in no particular order) are as follows:
- Suzuki Bandit 1200
- Ducati Monster 916
- Honda CB900
- Triumph Speed Triple 955
- Kawasaki Z1000
They all have very different personalities, but they're probably the best price/performance compromises in an upright position in that price range.
You'll be able to get decent examples with reasonable miles for around 3K with all of those bikes.
And of course there are a number of variants available, with engine sizes, equipment specs, etc, going up and down a bit as you go through the years and price ranges between £2500 and £3500.
There are others of course as well, Aprillia, Yamaha, BMW all make bikes that will do what you want.
If it was me, I'd probably pay a few hundred more and go for a Suzuki GSF 1250.
A big bandit that came from the factory with a top half fairing and removable touring luggage.
It's versatile, quick, fun, reliable and a lot of bike for not a lot of money.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

xrv 750 Africa twin, its good bike if you like the twins, a bit of a lumpy ride compared to a 4 cylinder and it will hold its money
if you don't mind to go older get a gpx 750, I have one for 3 years now on a f reg, superb engine never misses a beat and will do 90 all day motorway.0 -

Sorry, hadn't seen that when I posted earlier.
So more upright but not upright.....
VFR 800?
