D'oh! Yes lazywife - lansinol... my little monkey had me up for the day at 4:20 yesterday morning... FAR too early when you're once again used to a decent amount of sleep.
How are you today Aunty Pickle? (and everyone else?)0 -
I agree, I was grumpy all day the other week as T got me up about 5.50am... anything before 6am = grumpy mummy.. such a change from the days that I was content with only getting up once from 2-3am and then the day starting at 5.30?!?!
AP how was your night? No post could mean you've had a better day, or it could be your a hideous sobbing mess and can't face anything (both are ok... if you and your LO are still alive that's all you need to achieve!)

today was a good day. BF support worker came round - lots of compliments on how i'm doing (but sadly no magic wand for cracked nipples - i do have the lansinoh stuff).
friend came round and cleaned bathroom/toilets for us!
and i managed to sleep for an hour in the afternoon.Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -

Sounds like a good day0 -
Haven't posted in ages but just wanted to say hi aunty pickle. I remember the newborn phase well. I can't imagine anyone adjusting to parenthood worse than I did. I cried everyday until my son was around 12 weeks. It got marginally easier at 8 weeks but I just felt so alone and responsible for this little person who didn't sleep (and still doesn't at 19 months though it's bareable ).
Now he's 19 months and runs off and says 'noooooo' in this petulant manner I wonder why I found it so hard in the early days. But I promise these little people are amazing, they grow fast, constantly have phases; good and bad and generally run you ragged but I can hand on heart say most days are a joy (although some days are awful! )
People used to tell me it would get better when he smiled and interacted more and I'd think no way but it's honestly true. Its like you start to realise they are happy and your doing the right thing iykwim because they show begin to show you in their little ways
Hope everyone else is well. I've been in a new job for 3 months so struggled to post much but finally found time. Moving house soon (hopefully)and I've decided to get a cleaner as my house is officially a dump. I have not managed to have a child /job and clean. Not a great use of money but thinking how to fit cleaning in is driving me mad!0 -
Hiya Bangton (and everyone)
I know not very mse, but I have had a cleaner for the past three months - once a fortnight - and WOW! the difference it has made to our life as a family is entirely worthwhile! I was lucky though as had the opportunity for some overtime which paid for my year's cleaning.
I am so enjoying my little lady at the moment; the comments and chatter is just so cute. She makes me smile so much [:D]0 -
Hi everyone!
glad to see people posting again
congratulations Auntie Pickle!
To be honest my little one screamed a lot for the first 7 months and I didn't get much sleep. Now he's 20 months and he's adorable, so interactive and giggly! Things get slightly better week by week that sometimes you don't quite notice until you look back.
Breastfed babies do feed a lot and slowly sometimes - I found watching tv helped a lot! https://www.kellymom.com is a great site to find out about any breastfeeding queries. co-sleeping also helped me a lot but check out this site to make sure you're safe http://www.unicef.org.uk/Documents/Baby_Friendly/Leaflets/caringatnight_web.pdf . Breastfeeding whilst lying on my side was a life saver!
My LO is wonderful at the moment, can't imagine things getting much better. Unfortunately I know that toddler tantrums are just round the corner ...0 -
I concur about sidelying and breastfeeding - definitely one of the best things to master!
Hope that everyone has had a good long weekend? Ours wasn't great... Saturday we decided to take a trip to the seaside for a family day out. Unfortunately, just as we were about to pull into the carpark, A was sick, twice. Fortunately (?!) just over herself and her carseat and even more fortunately I had a change of clothes for her as don't usually carry any. Managed to get her changed and sort of got the car seat cleaned; well enough to strap her in to come home again. She was sick again on the way home, though only a very little bit. Bless her, she was really good about it - didn't cry or anything and then later said that her tummy wasn't sore anymore.
Anyone have any tips on getting carseats cleaned? I removed and washed the cover, but couldn't get the straps off so heavily disinfected them and once dry febreezed them. Am really, really hoping it was something she ate/ a bug rather than the start of carsickness.
We had a quiet weekend after that! Yesterday she seemed fine, but today has had a fever (has a rotten cough and snotty nose too that she's had for a little while). Poor love... really hoping she has a good night and feels better in the morning. It is so hard when they're not well.0 -
Hello everyone
Lovely to see some posting! We've just got back from a week away in Lanzarote, was really nice to have a break and have just the three of us before we are a four.
Hiii Gillyyep, over half way now, 23 weeks. Crazy how fast it's going now. How're you? Still enjoying your job?
Hope everyone is well, going to read back now.

well, I can't wait until the health visitor next comes and sees how much baby weighs - when born he was 8lb2oz and today at 4weeks he is 11lb7oz!! She said I shouldn't use nipple shields as he wouldn't feed properly and they would hinder my milk supply and I wasn't holding him properly etc etc. Well, I'm obviously doing something right!!!
Although he also has a slight temperature so is really unsettled today. Dreading the night if he's not going to sleep well...Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0
