So your all saying "if you buy something to do a specific job, no one is to blame when that product isn't capable of doing the job" well I'm impressed with the lay down and die attitude. You make me so proud to be British!

No, people are telling you what the state of play is. Samsung aren't interested, but you could try complaining as high as you can, or you can try taking it back to where you bought it and see what happens.

I think it stinks but it's a fact of life that many electronic items we buy have limited support as things keep moving on. I agree that a blu ray player should be capable of playing blu ray discs and although the first generation of players were released before the specification was fully ironed out that should only mean that early versions of players can still play the disc but not be able to access the extra interactive (useless) content that some discs have.

Sadly the fact remains that the retailer is broke, the maker doesn't care and you either try and shame Samsung on facebook or similar or you pay £30 for a new sale priced player from Tesco rather than waste many hours pursing the issue with the likely outcome that nothing will change.

That's technology I'm afraid... Betamax, BSB, DCC, HDDVD etc etc

Well it probably doesn't matter now as saying 'screw u' to another forum member will probably get this thread locked and Dunsh banned.

The fact is that there isn't an answer that is likely to please the OP unfortunately.

Perhaps the OP should direct their anger towards those fellow humans to constantly pirate and upload copyrighted films etc and are the very cause of endless upgrades to security being required that has resulted in the OP's annoyance.

agreed- their greed knows no boundaries - but then apple have been into locking people into products for years. you need an I this for an I that, and every step of the way involves a lay out at a premium rate because of monopolies setting up barriers to entry so it's their way or the high way.

...so you start doing it with hardware and it turns ever more profit as people rush to buy things that did what they thought they'd bought something to do.

not so much defending piracy as understanding that the primary reason it exists is because of the greed of the multinationals. That's a good thing - because they design stuff like this to rip us off, and then expect us to have spare cash to buy ever more of their product. You simply cannot have it all ways when you are in the business of shafting the consumer.
