  • Oh Urg! how lovely to see you XXXX

    welcome back:)

Funny, a few old friends have got back in touch lately. :) must be something in the air. cheers me right up

so tonight I stayed in and checked the bank accounts.

Things are ok really. I could probably afford to pay some of the debt off. But am nervous in case I run out of cash.

( I love Kevin Costner just saying)

    Focus Buffy focus.

IF I can keep saving like I am there is a chance I could save enough for one of my plans (house, travel, three months off work)

funny, I can always convince myself there is hope for the future. But much like looking at the garden it all takes time.

    Gah!!!!

  • SO. It is 8.30 on Sunday. have been awake for ages!!

Only day for a lie in. Very annoying.

however the state of my room is now actually depressing me. I was laying in bed last night awake till two pondering what the bloody hell to do.

    too many books, dvds, cds.
too much "stuff" for the pets.
no space for clothes. tiny wardrobe.

I also need to sort out an improved home for the piggies since although the current cage works for me I think they are quite bored.

Plus I need to rescue a much neglected fish tank and fish..... oh dear. I wish I could just buy a house.

Randomly, whilst out on Saturday I saw myself (again) in the reflection of a shop. I didn't feel well and as usual I looked fat! but I also looked so old and frumpy. Virtually made me cry standing there. So once work settles down (sometime in july 2015!) I must do some thing about that.

I am horribly aware that this entry is all needs and musts and not wants.

However this quote made me think,
"You are free to choose, but the choices you make today will determine what you will be, do and have in the tomorrow's of your life" Zig Ziglar

And whilst I might want to sit around planning lessons (yes really!) my room is shameful. seriously you would have me locked up if you could see it!!

I want to stop feeling guilty about my pets and their quality of life. so my room and my spaces must be sorted out.

I would like to point out to any lurkers, I am not a hoarder of animals (just the 3 gps, 1 hamster, 2 dogs and 3 fish tanks!)

My counsellor said everything I said was full of musts, have tos, shoulds etc (mostly for other people). She advised me to try saying well I could do that or I might do that (making it an option not an obligation). otherwise as other, wiser heads have said, break it down into smaller amounts/ tasks and then keep reminding/ congratulating yourself on what you have done instead of looking at what is still to be done.

The 18 minute rule is good (more than 15 minutes, not as long as 20). Set the timer and concentrate on one drawer/ corner or task (shoes all paired off and lined up?) and do it until the pinger goes. If you still feel full of beans, do another task - if not, stop and reward yourself and admire your completed task. Reward could be ten minutes sitting down with a cuppa or make yourself a star chart and add one star/ heart/ whatever for each completed task - with a designated spend when you reach a certain target (could help cut down on random spending using deferred gratification - I'll put it on the list and when I get x more stars, I can choose one thing from the list).

Another idea (not sure if I have mentioned it here but it was welcomed on another thread). Before I leave a room I look for three things I can do to improve that room - might be something simple like putting a hairbrush away in a drawer, carrying away something which should be in a different room or hanging up some clothes. So simple but all those little bits add up. 5 minute rule - if a task is going to take less than five minutes, just do it - it will take less time than finding the list and writing it down. I lived in the attic bedroom for 5 months before and after Christmas - knowing you will have to walk back up 2 flights of stairs if you forget anything concentrates the mind wonderfully.

  • thanks Mothernerd and Brizzled.

rotten day. decided that I need to clean out the shed - this was to allow me to move my winter wardrobe into it.

yeah. well.........Suffice to say I "finished" about 30 minutes ago.

    achieved nothing.

so I am off to find some kind of hoarders challenge! to sort me out.

Failing that anyone got a box of matches! ?

  • Why were you moving your winter wardrobe into the shed now we are officially in autumn? I'm confused.
