It is up to 12 weeks I just think it drags then it goes quite fast!
Midwife was funny today - I actually know my Midwife - she is my sons friends Mum! She didn't used to cover this area but now does. She did ask if it was ok with me as she could re allocate me - didn't see the point of saying there was an issue with it and I can't see there is one anyway.
The booklet seemed so long and there are so many more tests than there was with DD only 3 years ago!
I was interested to find out from 34 onwards your considered high risk as an older Mum (I am 32 just miss out on that).
We talked briefly about my hospital choices for birth and I said 'Neither' - I want to do my last at home if at all possible. We are going to talk about this at 16 week check.
Hope everyone is feeling ok!3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:
Happily Married since 20160 -
I've got my first appointment next Tuesday, and the scan is 5 weeks today. I am not patient enough for this! I've spoken to my husband about doing a home birth but I'm not sure on the options and as it's our first I don't know if medical people prefer you in hospital..? I guess I'm getting a bit ahead of myself thinking about that already.

Hope the midwife appt went well today samtoby
All good at my scan - baby was wiggling around with a strong heartbeat. I cried my eyes out!!! They've booked me in again for 2 weeks time, just for reassurance so that's on 5th May. Hubby actually seems more scared now than he did before - I think he's realised it's "real" now and so more worried about it being taken away again.
I was in bed for 9.30 last night too Twenty! I'm going out tonight so having a nap now to try and make it through :rotfl:0 -
that's brilliant you got to see baby already Roz_V!
And great you have a scan date too 20somwthinggirl. Five weeks is a long time to wait! I have a week and a half to my first proper midwife appointment. I'll be interested to see what she says about my risk level, 3 years older and having had a huge baby.
It's interesting you saying 34 counts as high risk samtoby. It's kind of nice you already know your midwife. I ended up being looked after in delivery suite by my HR manager's wife! A lot does seem to have changed in 3 years - new tests, both local midwives have changed, they've cut the antenatal classes from four to one, and cut out the five post natal classes altogether. Funding cuts can be brutal!0 -
34 didn't count as high risk for me. I was low risk until Zika was mentioned
So it seems that varies with postcode too0 -
I'm just back from the booking in appointment. All went well, saying no to so many questions made me feel all healthy apart from being overweight. Though disappointingly, from the view of seeing the baby more, my BMI is one point under what would have made me need extra scans.
Have to go back again tomorrow to have blood taken as my veins are small so the midwife only managed to get vial out...not great for someone who doesn't like needles!

No, really, don't wish for extra scans, it's so much extra time out and for the 2 minute actually looking at bean each time, It's not worth it0

Hello all, there used to be on MSE a list of the different 'thresholds' for home pregnancy tests - I thought it was a sticky, but I now can't find it. If anyone knows where it is, please could you post a link?
Thank you so much!0 -
Found it! Buried on an old TTC thread0

Glad you found it firebubble!
How did you get on with the blood test today twentysomethinggirl?
I'm intrigued, what BMI do you have to be to be over the threshold? I've put on 6 pounds so far (I keep wondering if it's twins, and not just sweets), so I will be firmly overweight when they weigh me at my booking appt next week!
I'm having to deal with a really sucky situation at work, which is quite stressfuland I'm sick of standing on the train. I wish people would offer me a seat, but I obviously don't have a bump, so it's down to me to ask for one. Need to get one of those baby on board badges! I am a grumpy sod at the mo!
On the plus side, another girl at work is pregnant, maybe a month or so ahead of me, so I'll have someone to chat about it with!0
