  • It's worth asking about am evening appointment, my midwife had 7pm appointments. It meant my oh was able to attend with me.

    Congratulations Penguin :)
  • My girlfriend is around 10 weeks pregnant. Her mood and energy levels have noticeably changed. She doesn't like to go out, can't be bothered even to put on makeup (which she typically enjoys doing) and overall is a depressing mood to be honest. Is this, relatively, normal and does it last throughout the pregnancy?
  • Yep it's normal and asking questions like that in a forum full of hormonal equally knackered and irritable women isn't going to make you any friends! After the first trimester (about 13 weeks) her energy levels should pick up but try to bear in mind she's growing a person and EVERYTHING about her body will be changing over the next few months.
  • Agree with you rubywhatashmoo!

Andrew, I would really think before you are posting these questions. Really, if you are in doubt, there are all sorts of apps specifically designed to give you information on such things. Or even give google a visit!

Try and be supportive to your girlfriend. One minute you're complaining about her high libido on your other thread, next you sound like you are putting her down for being in a "depressing mood"!

I'm nearly 14 weeks and just about getting over sickness/nausea but still extremely fatigued and don't have much appetite. I barely make work in the mornings, never mind want to go out and surprised I can muster the energy to wash my hair, never mind do a full face of makeup! :rotfl:
  • Thanks both. Just to be clear, I'm not putting her down at all! I'm making sure she doesn't have to lift a finger and gets every need and want delivered. The stuff about the makeup, I'm literally quoting her, will never pressure her to out make-up on. Everything else was just describing the mood. Again, thanks for the reassurance.
  • Im just over 13 weeks and feel exhausted, I spend every spare half hour I have napping, I think the tiredness is pretty normal and maybe her bad mood comes off the back of this, try to be supportive, help round the house or cook her tea and in a few weeks time hopefully she'll feel better again.

Andrew, make sure your OH is taking a good pregnancy multi vitamin.

Although it can be common to feel run down at the beginning it can also be due to low iron levels. These will all be checked via blood tests at booking in, or one of the first few antenatal appointments but I would definitely look at a good multivitamin if you haven't already. There isn't really a 'normal' for pregnancy, some people get fatigued and feel awful others don't notice much difference to when they're not pregnant, same goes for sickness etc.
