No buying unnecessary toiletries in January 2014

Hi All,
I'm definitely in for 2014! Happy New Year everyone and a big welcome to the old and new faces, I love January on thread, its always so busy! Thank you for the new thread Dolly. In Dec I wound up with 12 UU and a grand total of 57 IN!!
I've not declared my gifted IN yet so I'll do that now and then try and get my stash list updated into some kind of order. I tried three months spend free at the beginning of last year but overlooked the fact that I'd need some essentials such as deoderant despite having a large stash of things like body butter. This year I think I'm going to go for £10 a month spend for toiletries and hope to save the first few months worth in the main so I can have some spare funds for this years sales! :rotfl:The only thing I can think I'll need soon is some more Percy & Reed No Oil Oil and possibly some shampoo as I don't get on with some of the stuff I had at the min.
Rougey was asking about under eye concealer at the end of the last thread, I really like Benefit Bo-ing HTH the consistency is really thick like a paste so it stays put.
Gifted IN:
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EDP 35ml
Dior Addict Eau Delice EDT 100ml
Bomb Cosmetics The Luxury Bath Box (6 bath bombs)
Sex In the City Love Set (perfume etc x 4)
Avon Far Away Shimmering Body Powder 40g

S & G Sugar Crush Body Scrub 300ml
S & G Hand Food 100ml x 2
S & G Mist You Madly Body Spray 250ml
S & G Face Soap & Clarity 150ml
S & G Hair Supply 200ml
S & G The Daily Smooth Body Butter 250ml

ooh lucky you having a trip booked already. Are you staying in Malaga or travelling from there?
Welcome all newbies too.
We booked the trip in August. Over here if you want to get away in the winter you have to start looking early. This time last year we went to Sandals in Jamaica. Lovely but very expensive and no it wasn't the one Jordan married her latest husband in. So when we came back we started to look for this winter. I found a company that does "long stays" in Portugal, Spain or the South of France. For what we spent on one week at Sandals we could get three from this company. Did a lot of internet snooping and spoke to our travel agent. Turns out she has some people that go every year for 52 days at this time of year. Not luxury like Sandals but three weeks of no snow, no shovelling snow and weather where we can wear shoes!
So, it's a long journey. Here to Toronto, then on to Paris, then Malaga (you can see what I mean about duty frees!). Don't laugh we are going to Torremolinos but anywhere on earth is better than northern Alberta in the winter (unless you like an average temp of -18C).
NYeve went well. The other nurse I work has a good sense of humour so we set up a buffet on the nurses counter, cheese, nibbles and sparkling fruit juice. Plastic wine glasses and fancy napkins. Invited the patients and we all hung out for 20 minutes then back to work.
I've been good, haven't bought anything in 2014 yet!0 -
Just one small UU today - Nivea Intensive Moisturing Cream 8ml. I have another one of these to use up but I WNBA. The texture is kind of blancmange like and considering it's for face, hands and body, it's not that easy to spread.
I have some INs to report tomorrowNo, I haven't been on a spending spree, I've just discovered that I had a secret Sanctuary stash in the other half's cupboard. Yet more sanctuary body wash and scrub to use up. Whoops!

Hello
Hope you don't mind me joining, I think this is where I need to beit has gotten to the point that I have my toiletries split into groups, under my bed, on my bed side table, in a box under my bed side table, in a cabinet, on a shelf, in the bathroom the Christmas stuff hasn't even been mixed in with it yet
!
Tomorrow I'm going to have a look at my stash, some can probably be thrown/passed on to my sister (scents I don't like, things that didn't work with my skin) , then I'm going to get it all out and face what I really have... eek!
What makes it worse is I have the most appalling skincare routine, which is why it all lasts me so long... my new years resolution is to try and remedy that. Especially as I recently became an Avon rep, I am possibly the worst advertisement lol.
For the most part I'm not going to include shampoos and conditioners in my stash as I share with the rest of the family so we get through loads, but I do sometimes have my own special ones they will be included
I also have a few things on my allow to buy list...
- James Brown - Photo fabulous set from boots, I love the hairspray! and when the set goes into boots 75% off (fingers crossed they make it into that this year!) the whole set is about the same price as buying just the hairspray on its own
- Soap and Glory face skin care stuff - to use voucher came with set I had for Christmas - I actually badly lack face skincare stuff... (which is probably why I'm 24 with the skin of someone just hitting puberty ggrr damn spots! )
- perfume - VIP 212 - only if by some miracle it is ever at the right price!
- hand sanitiser - included because I have slight ocd issues sometimes, yet treat myself to the body shop ones because they smell so much prettier lol...
- foot cream (my mum's getting angry with me stealing hers...)
Oh and I'm also not including nail varnishes... I'm going to try and not any, but I'm not going to try and limit what I have either... I have well over 80 and got the ciate advent calender for Christmas, I can't wait until next Christmas to open it (also think that would be really bad for my nails)... so I decided I'm going to have 2 a month I have had a peek and switched the really Christmassy ones to the end, but for the most part it's unchanged...
I opened my first today and got Iced Frappe which is a beautiful it is like a really pale milky coffee colour with a slight hint of purple... right up my street
Wow um this is a much longer post than I anticipated...but basically -
Hello! Hope you don't mind me joining in and my slight variations on rules, but with those I think buying nothing in 2014 may actually be possible :undecided
oh and - Happy New Year
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -
Welcome all newbies :hello: It's lovely to see so much activity on the thread!
I have UUs:
1. Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm 20g - this was a GWP and I WBA, this has left my skin looking very clear and feeling super smooth. Plenty of others to get through first though.
2. The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel 250ml - WMBA if on a good sale, did the job and I liked the scent. I have several litres of shower gels in the stash to use first though, including three more of these!MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -
happy new year ladies, lets hope its a good one for us all
anyone else having trouble with icons?they don't work for me at all.
re skirt I bought thinking it was brown and turned out to be baby blue....well already sold it on fleabay for £7.99(tho hopefully will get more)I paid £2.76 for it so taking postage into account I will have recovered what I paid out. Also sold a few toiletries and two skirts so well pleased.
off to town sometime today, waiting for Rolandthe DPD driver to bring my err Elemis goodies....sorry technically bought them last year in the sale as also had a £10 off birthday coupon, bit annoyed as were due yesterday and Roland is two hours away(lovin this modern technology that lets you see where the driver is online!)
going to have lots of treats this month as have a Clarins voucher to use up(hot stone massage next week I hope)A local salon Christmas voucher plus 15% off birthday coupon(two hour massage/facial at the end of Jan)and some £5 vouchers for another salon(possibly eyebrow threading)so no need to buy any new toiletries in.
Did a sort out and have listed 20 items to sell and resisted Clarins and molton Brown sale.
Had a shock when the rail in my wardrobe broke over the holiday so should really avoid buying any more clothes too0 -
Welcome newbies.
Pixtotts - we are not very strict on the rules here :rotfl:just come any enjoy the chatter.
Wondercollie - your NYE sounded like a nice thing to do under the circumstances. Hope you enjoy your holiday.
I have three uu to report
Lancôme Bi Facil 30ml, this is good but stupidly expensive, I have some full size bottles but would only buy after that to take advantage of an epic GWP.
Naked Coco de Mer Body Butter - lovely scent, WMBA.
Elemis Quiet Mind Bath Elixer - 50ml, I have numerous bottles of this in the stash but would never buy it on its own, it smells lovely but does nothing that something much cheaper wouldn't do.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hello lovely ladies,
I'm back to join in again!
I stopped posting last year as I got lazy, as this phone is not the best with cooperating with me, and my laptop is so ancient I'd be waiting a lifetime for it to load! I have been lurking each month though.
Anyway, I like someone else mentioned here went a bit nuts in last years Boots sale, and still have the majority left, plus the rest of the stash.
I must stay strong and resist this year- I will browse to see what is left, interested to try some Ted Baker or if there's any Extracts stuff left, but that is all!
I've been ebaying little bits of the stash here and there, and have got rid of bits that way, but need to do more.
I would like to make more space in my cupboards/drawers.
Wondercollie, can I ask which part of Canada are you from?
Lovely to be back, this is such a lovely thread to follow.0 -
One UU from yesterday
TBS mango shower gel 250ml. Lovely stuff, but have stashes of TBS almond, wild cherry, passion fruit, coconut and peach to use first.
Ohh dear.0 -
Happy new year folks! Good to see the old faces back! And welcome to any newbies to the thread, this challenge is great and everyone is very friendly
. This is my second calendar year on the thread (I started in April 2012) and its really helped me.
Some figures from me for last year - Total UUs was 133, total INs were 129 with 54 GAs/TAs, bringing down my total stash level from 283 to 225. Most of my INs were freebies so I worked out I spent about £40 all year - half of that was a perfume set I bought in the last January sale (had wanted it for ages). Which is ace.
Sadly my 'toiletry sachet advent calendar' didn't get finished in December - I had a bad reaction to several facial cleansers I tried that made me break out in large painful spots so I had to ease off. I used up 20 instead of 24 though which is still pretty good going.
From looking at my stash - I did a great job with moisturisers last year (used up 37 body moisturisers alone) but I really need to focus on makeup this year as I'm not getting through it. I don't wear it much so I need to bite the bullet and just throw things or give them away.
With that in mind I've just thrown away my go-to foundation I keep in the office - it's more than 5 years old but I was nowhere near the bottom of the bottle. I have others I can easily replace it with though.
Here's to great 2014 - I have a good feeling about this."Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0
