With babies clothes, I have seen mums request an animal (elephant/teddy) made from a mix of their babies outgrown clothing. Gives them a lovely, lasting memento. Wish I'd have thought of that when mine were young. :) Don't know if thats an idea to throw into the mix.

One toy which DS3 had and treasured for years was his 'clownie'. It was a stuffed clown made of different fabrics with different fastenings, eg one shoe laced, the other had velcro, there was a button, a small zip etc. One bit was probably rustly when you touched it.

I would only do it for over 3s though, in the hope none of the bits ever came off ... and were eaten!

I think I would have to have toys CE approved to be able to sell them. Only way passed that is to say "this is not a toy- not suitable for children" which is a bit daft. But I think memory type blankets are ok.
Mine used to have a clown. I fact DGD had one at some stage too! (Wonder where that went?)
I didn't sleep very well last night (again)
Too much on my mind kept me tossing and turning, and then weird dreams inbetween didn't exactly help me. I woke at 5am and really wonder why I tried to go back to sleep really as it wasn't very successful.
Cup of tea time ( must food shop today as down to the last few tea bags!) then make a list.
I should have taken my diary up to bed then I could have jotted stuff down. Since opening the shop my diary has taken a back seat somewhat and I think I need to revive it. After 21 years or so of prolific writing suddenly it's rather sparce.
I go in Early today, have a customer coming at 8.30 to collect her trousers.
I shall finish those heavy curtains hopefully in relative peace, and crack on with the next lot of alterations needed for tomorrow. I close at 12 to customers, but today I will be still working upstairs until about 10 to 3 before I get DGD from school. It's necessary to get completely back up to date. Taking DGD to see her Mum, ( who rang me yesterday asking about what size bike helmet and waterproof she needed to budget for) so it seems if we had not bought the bike it would probably have not materialised her end after all. ( if the funds are not there for the helmet they definitely wouldn't have been for a bike). I told her that if she hasn't got the money then she mustn't get into debt. DGD can use her old helmet just now. It's just a bit babyish, but it still fits her.
While DGD is there after school I will pop to Aldi, and shop. Then maybe visit my parents for a cuppa.
There isn't anyone booked in for lessons today so that's a relief.
I do need to promote the next few courses though as I need bums on seats to get the income generated.

    Right, time to move.
    Have a good day everyone.

Mooloo, I'm in Northampton, and if you are doing learn to sew courses or similar, I would be really interested.

Well if you coming over to see Moo then a cuppa and a chat would be lovely as I live a few minutes away from the town centre xxxx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Oh, that sounds good. A MSE meet and sewing lessons!
Hope your feeling ok Molly. DGD absolutely loves her new clothes!
The Lego is also a great little thing to pass the time together. I should step back and relax and play a bit more than I do with her.
We went to see her Mum after school for a couple of hours. It wasn't perfect but it was cleaner and tidier. It appears that the girl from the family from hell has been getting some of her own medicine, and is supposed to be being moved out of the town. ( now that would be a result).

I was at work early today, hand sewing huge curtains! Yuk. sold a sewing machine! Yeah. The first I hope of many!
I also had another booking for the pj bottoms course on 18th.
One of my friends came again this afternoon and we cracked on with pricing and hanging the children's clothes.
So a good day all round.
Didn't get home until 8pm and had to put the shopping away so I've had a snack (DGD ate earlier).

Morning, went to bed around 10.30 set the alarm for 6.30 but I've been trying to get back to sleep after waking at 5.40 without any luck. So I am now waking up properly and starting to plan my day. It appears my mind is just not switching off and I'm even dreaming of the things that I need to do, want to do, etc which means I am waking up at all hours.
I was up to the loo several times, which also is disrupting my sleep.
I will be glad when my mind settles.
Lots of jobs to finish today, so that I am upto date with the alterations. ( well those I can do that are not waiting for zips)
I am hoping a more permanant part timer is going to help me a few hours 3 days a week. This will hopefully free me up some time to speed up my output, and get me into the workshop more. She's just working her notice at her other job. Meanwhile I have some temporary help here and there from friends. Can't rely on Family. That's not a complaint, it's just a fact.
I had hoped biggest of Mooloo was going to be joining me, but her agenda is a bit different at the moment.
Time to crack on now the alarm has gone.
Need to do some housework before work.

steady stream of people through the doors yesterday. Some of the zips arrived, so caught up on those jobs I needed to do. Huge set of curtains to shorten this morning before any other jobs. Did I tell you I hate curtains?!!! They really mess up my arm when so big and heavy so I had to pace the time between the three sets.
I'm trying to pace myself better, and have a spreadsheet with the jobs to do and time slots. Although I can't stick to it exactly due to never knowing who's going to come through the doors and when. but it helps me when booking new jobs in.
twin1, is behind with her water rates! For some reason they are in my name, ( must be from when I used to help pay bills when she first went there- :(), so I need to get my name off of her bill!

DGD is going to her Grandads this weekend, so I better pack a bag ready for her, and remember the car seat is going to be needed).

Next door had her wheels stolen off her car the night before last. When we went out to school the car was up on bricks. Did make me wonder when they have a drive some 140 ft long to side of house, car parking at front, as to why she would leave the car on the roadside!!
But hadn't thought they had been stolen!
There for the grace of god go I. My car luckily is nothing special, although it is to me.
Time to get DGD up, and ready for school then. I've remembered to make myself some sandwiches today.! I ended up eating crisps and a banana yesterday!

    .

You know, its probably no bad thing :). You are doing well, and perhaps resetting boundaries with the whole family ( while remaining loving) is part of the future strength for THEM as well as you. At least for a while. :).
  • I think it is better that you keep your family off the payroll. It can only cause more problems. Stick with the plan to employ someone who is maybe a little older and won't have the dramas that come along with having young families etc. Obviously that person will also be the face of your shop, so must dress smart and be polite & helpful.
