How did the party go?hope dgd had a great time she is growing up fast0

dGD had a good time. We were lucky it was a nice day so the kids were all out in the garden. The swings, slide, trampoline, the mini pool table, table football, snooker. We did pin the tail on the donkey, pass the parcel, ate cupcakes, and birthday cake. Didn't eat much savoury food!!!
Several Mums stopped, my eldest Biggest of Mooloos, and DGD2, both came over. Although Biggest seems to be suffering with a headache today as well. I do worry that she is doing too much.
I met one of the Mums I hadn't met before, she stayed and nattered with some of the other Mums which was nice.
DGD behaved really well, and I was so proud of her. All the children did really. Although one little girl was in the wars a few times. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Twin2 rang. She's coming home for a week next month around the time of her birthday. I should be able to help her by then.
I would like her to be a bit closer, but at least she is talking about coming back for a few days. She still says that she wants to stay away from the girl from the family from hell so doesn't want to stop at her twins as she's hanging around with her.
Twin1 did call yesterday, and now has her drain fixed. A step in the right direction. We will go for a visit in the evening this week. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Yuk, pouring rain again. Darker mornings now, means DGD isn't awake with the larks. I have acquired even more clothes for the 2nd hand level. I have one of my friends coming down to the shop this afternoon, to help sort etc.
I shall be attacking the jobs from Friday first of course, and do my best to crack on with the alterations. I have a thermal bag nearly ready to go, just needs the polystyrene balls filling. I've nearly run out, so need to buy some more.
Also need to buy a lock and chain for DGDs new bike so it can go in the shed and not the kitchen!
Hope everyone has a good day. I'm launching into my second month of trading already. The good news is that I tripled my estimated cash flow coming in, and only spent £102 more than I'd planned, that was getting the embroidery machine fixed. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Oh, looks like we are troll free again. Thankyou board monitors.
Let's grab our positivity back, and get going. Time for the school run. Brollies at the ready and my bright orange waterproof with flower power stickers on!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Fwiw mooloo, as someone who cannot be accused of being part of your fan club I'm really impressed.
I think you are showing your family an example and doing something productive for your community and provident for you and dgd and you.
Being a sole trader, self employed in any way can tough. I think many must feel dwarfed by your resolve and grit to stop doing things that Weren't helping anyone and do something new, and with resolve and positivity.
Congratulations on beating target, great feeling isn't it! You'll probably want to have a look at things every twelve weeks or so and see how they are going and see if your financial / fiscal set up is best for you, well before end of your tax year.
( um, I 'd do better to take that advice myself actually)0 -
Thanks.
Today was a good day. I got all the jobs is earmarked and a few more done.
I helped a soldier see on his ribbons after the dry cleaner had removed it. He neededit for a funeral tomorrow. I couldn't charge him, I didn't feel right asking one of our lads to pay. My heart goes out to them tomorrow burying a comrade.
I had several new jobs in, but mostly cleared the backlog, called everyone their jobs were ready. Took £91 which is not bad.
I managed to have a cup of tea, a cuppa soup, and a Mars bar!! Never managed anything else though.
Having spaghetti Bol for tea tonight.
DGD and I have a date with a Lego construction after tea.
My friend called into the shop bearing gifts, some jam jars for my buttons, and a set of children's curtains she knew I could turn into somethingelse at some stage. She's coming to help me tomorrow afternoon to get a bit more done in the middle shop.
My sewing magazine has arrived today, with a dress pattern I really fancy making with some of my vintage fabrics.
Finding the time will be challenging. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning. Having a cup of tea, read my emails, done the online bits and pieces. The Lego set is a very diddly jungle type scene with a medi helicopter. Still another pile of bricks still to make the rest of the set. DGD was late to bed as it's time consuming and fiddly.
Not often read back my posts, but noticed that when I write sew the predictor text is changing it to see!! Oops. I better slow down and double check things make sense.
Need to find out about the accounting etc, and the things I need to do to be able to pay wages to part time staff. Much as I enjoy the interaction with customers, stopping and starting to sew is disruptive. So having a receptionist/assistant to deal with the booking in and the payment side etc would allow me to keep sewing. They could also help with the sorting of the second hand clothes etc.
With that in mind, hopefully I will be then able to also create more of my upcycle makes.
Best go to the gov website and see. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
SORRY for the diddly lego - DD's choice:o
Hey if you can follow a dress making pattern then lego instructions are a doddle xxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Oh don't worry, it's just more me building it then her!
It's fascinating make though!
I'm tired today. Didn't sleep that well last night.
Hada couple of friends helping me out today sorting my Preloved clothing. Tagging and pricing things. So I've updated my shops Facebook page to let people know I've lots of baby clothes.
We will see if it sells or not. If not I may rethink how to make things up into other things.
I have been working on huge heavy curtains today. Yuk. Oh well it's all money at the end of the day.
There was a lot of strange comings and goings around the town today. Filming a period programme or other. I saw them all dressed up and going, including Alister Mcgower. (I think that's his name- does a lot of comedy impressions).
DGD chose chicken for tea, so I'm just waiting for it to cook. Really hungry as I didn't get passed a cuppa soup today. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
