Is there a reason you don't want to carry on using the laptop ?
if its just down to the VGA port, why not get a VGa-HDMI convertor0 -
No I am looking at getting a second device. The wire across the room is annoying if I or the OH want to use the laptop for anything else whilst it is being used for TV. The aerial here is not great to the extent that an internal aerial with booster picks up more channels than the external one on top of the roof of the upstairs flat.
I am considering getting a mini pc which utilises the TV as a monitor. Nothing decided as yet. I'm working out what will work best for me, even if it is not the best in the opinion of others.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0 -
Windows or Mac laptop is the easiest way to cover all these bases, and more. Chromebook not a good idea as lots of these streaming websites use Flash. Flash is only officially supported these days on (correct me if I'm wrong) Windows, OSX and Linux. No single STB is as versatile as a computer.0

PlayStation 3 is another option as it covers most of the popular streaming services. And gives you a half decent blu-ray/dvd player. Also you can play games on it if you want.
I use the PS3 and a VGA laptop, though only 720p TV the picture is fine, maybe you VGA cable is poor quailty.0 -
The Tesco Hudl will run all the applications you have listed in the thread title.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0
