    Afternoon All,

Welcome to all newbies and welcome back to all returners!

Very pleasant sunny day here today, we seem to be getting good/bad weather on alternate days.

OH and I will be seeing in the New Year with DGS and a bottle of champagne, whilst the young ones enjoy themselves with their friends.

Hope everyone has a super night celebrating in whatever way and that we all look forward to a peaceful and prosperous 2014.

    Afternoon all,

Very cold and windy here, with the odd torrential shower thrown in for good measure, was planning on visiting friends this afternoon, but really not keento go out in thisweather, car isbeing temperamental about starting, probably needs a new battery, not going to buy one as will be getting new car next week.

Tree and decorations will remain in Mean Mansions until next week.....after Nollag na mban...Women's Christmas which is on 6th January.

I think that we will have carbonara for dinner, would love a steak but notspending any money until next week, freezer is full so there is food, although some of the combinations may be a little strange!

Blian nua faoi mhaise dibh go leir.......a very happy 2014 to all my friends on MSE and thank you all for being my friends

  • Persisting down heavily here, what a dismal day.

No washing being done because I can't get it dry, so it can wait until Thursday.

Do not need any shopping until Thursday when we will get just milk and a few of the usual weekly bits we normally get, but it will not be much because the freezers are still groaning.

Got a few friends coming round for drinkies, nibbles and fireworks later, so I must finish the housework.

I wish all of my forum friends a Very Happy New Year.animated-smileys-new-years-eve-019.gif

    Afternoon all,

Hope everyone is ok. I had a really productive day yesterday. Firstly
reviewed all the paperwork from our DMP and rang around to confirm amounts owed. Was absolutely delighted to find out we owe £2150 less than I thought, added to the £650 we've paid off this year since March I felt like I had won the lottery:j:j
Also took all the rubbish to the tip and set up our budget on spreadsheets for 2014. Our dd is a wizz at these so she helped me get it set up.
Our first goal is to save for a car as ours is on its last legs and we are determined to pay cash for it.
Also set up my sealed pot for £1 a day saving. I felt very organised last night.
Today DGS has gone to his other grannies for the night, kids are all out at various parties so dh and I can celebrate our anniversary ( 31 yrs since we met) we are having a 2 for 1 meal and a nice bottle of wine and we will snuggle up and bring in the new year with Jools, can't think of anything better or anywhere else I would rather be.:D

Wishing you all a very Happy And Peaceful New Year and hoping for a great 2014 :beer:_party_

    Hi all

Slightly wet walkies today; luckily Ronnie doesn't seem the least bit bothered by rain.:o

    I just tried it, and apparently I'm 77% tight!:eek::D
I do washing on NYE and NYD, can't afford to let the washing mountain creep up on me :rotfl:
Same here - in fact I almost certainly will be doing a WM load tomorrow, as I suspect Mr LW will be putting a pair of cords in the wash tonight (his winter work trousers) which will mean there'll be a full load to go in.:o

Ronnie made us laugh last night - he barked at Mr LW when he got in from work - but was barking at the back door, when Mr LW actually came in the front.:rotfl: Dippy dog!:D

Our plans for tonight are much the same as usual - a bottle of champagne (half price in I forget which SM, as I use 5 different ones:D), probably spend the evening doing computer gaming, and switch the radio on at about 23:55 to catch the chimes. Mr LW requested tagliatelle with tinned toms and hot dogs for dins, so that's an easy one.:T I cut the veggie hot dogs into chunks and bung them in the pan with the toms, and spoon the whole lot over the tagliatelle once it's hotted through. It's a messy dish to eat, but tasty.:o There's some mincemeat tart for pud. As there's only the two of us, I've been making an open tart in an 8" enamel dish, rather than mince pies - for one thing it's less fiddly than mucking about with little circles of pastry, and also, you get a better mincemeat-to-pastry ratio.:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Good afternoon all,
It has been raining on and off all day here. The wind has started to get up again.
House is tidy, washing has been done. Nipped to the shops to get a little bit of shopping in, it was packed. Luckily i only took a basket so i didn't have to wait long to be served.
We never go out to celebrate the new year. We are quite boring i guess :o. The dog will no doubt be shaking when the fireworks start going off, bless him.
    Tea tonight is chicken curry.
I hope everyone has a good rest of the day and hugs to those who need them.

Wishing all of my online friends a happy new year. I hope it brings everything you wish for.

  • Afternoon all
Well BIL arrived on time so we were able to eat & still get home in plenty of time, I ate a very small meal so as not to overload my stomach, hubby & BIL picked up the bill for the meal as the in laws only have a small pension, we paid our half out of the housekeeping money as we ate out y'day & hadn't planned on eating out again this month. BIL & his gf seem to be rolling in money, no idea how, she doesn't work & he's on benefits, they are going to Vegas on Friday & Thailand in March.
Hubby & I will be going to bed early, we don't see the NY in and we have DGS visiting tomorrow.
Have a lovely evening everyone, however you are spending it.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Well managed to get into town and quickly walked round with ds so he could spend some of his money, got back in home just before the rain started coming down heavy.

All animals are fed, watered and shut in for the night, hopefully the wind and rain won't hit us that bad this eve, but think I'll get my candles and wind up torches out just incase cos our village as an habit of losing power in high winds.

I'm just going to prepare the tea for this eve, and make a start on the trifle for pudding tomorrow then I shall pop my feet up and watch Marple (murder is easy) didnt think much to the new Marple that was on TV Sunday.

Hope you all have a fab new years eve xx

Popping in quickly to wish you all a happy new year.

We don't do much for new year's eve, i expect i will watch the london fireworks display on tv, and usually mum in law rings us at midnight.

Hubby didn't play golf as too wet. We have had a pottering around day. I have set up my savings pots for coinage to help pay for summer outings and next xmas. We have also made the decision to sell our house this year and move to a smaller place. This should help us to have less monthly outgoings so that we can save more for our retirement, plus hopefully it will be easier for me to manage with the housework. So, a few little jobs to do to get it ready for sale and planning on putting it on the market in spring.

    Have a nice evening everyone.
