O/S Daily Tuesday 31st December 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning all.
Well last day of 2013 and I know its going to be a busy one. Last of the Xmas decs to come down and be stored away. Same with the box of wrapping paper and bows and cards brought in the sales for next year. House to clean through so we don't take any of this years mess into next year(something my mum got me doing and now its tradition).
Had a productive day yesterday as dh put the new light up in the bedroom so I can finally see everywhere. Dd sorted her bedroom and threw out 6 bin bags of rubbish. Managed to stop her from binning a huge bag of clothes that I intend to sort through and up cycle.
Just the office to organise now . dh is back to work for today then off till the 2nd. So I know I can get done (why is it you can get more done when there is no one home lol )
Wm already done 2 loads and one to go. All animals fed and sorted so just having a quiet cuppa before I start.
Hoping to see my Gd today or tomorrow as I haven't seen her since before Xmas and I'm getting snuggle withdrawal symptoms.
We are meant to be going out tonight with friends but not sure if dh wants to as if the weather is bad it means a rotten walk into town as we refuse to pay double cab fairs.
Well better get on as reading back through this I realise I have shed loads to do.
Hugs to all and Happy New Year to all for later xxxBright Blessings xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Late start for me today - woke at 4.50am but then managed to get back to sleep and didn't wake up again until 7.50am - very unusual for me to sleep so late.
Dull, cloudy, dreich, wet underfoot and very windy here this morning. Load in WM just finishing - will get that into the drier asap, and get another load in.
DH up and gone to work normal time. He was home by 5pm yesterday - I think he's hoping for similiar or earlier today. Our friend got his car back yesterday afternoon so we have our car back too.
Dinner last night was pasta in a creamy tomato sauce - so used up stuff from the fridge that otherwise I would have thrown away. Tonight we're having the LO ham, so it'll be ham, egg, chips/jacket potato, there's some salad bits to use up - so we'll have that too.
I'm quite happy with how productive I was yesterday, the boys got all the decs etc down, packed away and put in the loft. Whilst they did that, I continued with the washing, drying and ironing. Sorted out the couple of hot spot areas that really needed a major de-clutter, they both look much better, although DH needs to put away his stuff (electric drill, drill bits, saw, planer etc) in it's normal home in the garage/shed - at present it's on the dining room table. Had 3 black bags full of rubbish so went to the recycling centre to get rid of them and went to get my car washed at the same time, not very os I know but the car was filthy (we live in the country and because it's been either wet/raining or really damp foggy the roads are all filthy with mud from the fields - it's sugar beet season here and our town is having a new big building project going on at the moment and it's on the outskirts of town on the main route in so that road has been permanently filthy for the last 3-4 months). Made a phone call and did some caravan work on the pc for DH.
Today I will continue with the washing, drying and ironing - as I want to get it completely up to date before tomorrow - the basket does look emptier this morning so will crack on with this. I want to go into the back end of week and weekend with the washing, drying and ironing up to date and the house looking reasonable - will be looking at more areas in the house that need a declutter and doing them an area at a time so I don't get overwhelmed with it and feel like something is being achieved.
We're going to friends tonight for eats and drinks - so that will be a good night - they're good friends and good company so no doubt they'll be some laughs too.
Have a good New Year Eve everyone, and hope that 2014 is good to you all, wishing you health, wealth and happiness.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Hope you are all ok,hugs if not.
Off out to walk the dog in a minute,DH and DS1 still in bed yet so its quiet. We're not going out tonight. We always used to,even when the lads were young but it always seemed to cost a fortune to eat somewhere and even the pubs round here charge. No doubt we'll be watching Jools.
Anyway Lylapup is looking at me with her big brown eyes so better get going.I'll be cleaning and tidying anyway today as we have a viewer on Friday.
Wishing all my OS friends all best wishes for 2014,in case I dont get back on x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning everyone,
Molly, Hilstep Hugs.
Not doing a lot today, may have a cup of tea with my friend later.
DD1 and DD2 are out tonight but most of DS's friends are away so he is spending the evening with us. We will probably have a takeaway.
Tomorrow we are off to the panto which is much more my scene than NYE parties.
Have a lovely day everyone and Happy New Year.:)0 -
Morning everyone,
Latest start in years today! All still in PJs. Day not exactly going to plan so far but nice to be lazy sometimes.
Today we are making party food - just family this evening but my little one wants it to be a party, sorting out clothes and shoes for charity or eBay and doing our first ever meal plan and stock take of the cupboards as I've signed up to the grocery challenge :-)
Have a good one everyoneJanuary grocery challenge 0/4000 -
Morning all.
This is the first time I've had a chance to post since Christmas Eve so I hope you all had a good one.
OH back at work today and both boys still asleep so having a quiet coffee and snuggle with my furry four legged boy before I tackle some washing.
Will get the boys to help me get the tree down when they get up.
Eldest has a party tonight and is planning on getting the train home, so I hope this wind doesn't get any worse.
OH, youngest and I will see it in at home - also with Jools Holland, like you Rosyred
I have to confess to not particularly enjoying NYE - it always makes me emotional, but I do need to work on some resolutions for the year ahead.
Wishing you all a peaceful, prosperous and Happy New Year x0 -
Good morning everyone
Horrible weather here with torrential rain again, am glad we have everything we need and don't need to go out, except to collect DGD later.
Having a roast dinner tonight with beef and all the trimmings, it's turned into a bit of a new year's eve tradition to have roast beef. Everything came from Mr S and was all free on their saved up points so that made me very happy, especially as it looks like there will be lots of left over beef.
Nothing planned for today except a bit of a tidy around and finishing off the latest jigsaw. May try and catch up on some TV I missed, still haven't seen Call the Midwife and fell asleep hallway through Downton, so may try and watch the rest of that.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day.
I hope 2014 brings many good things for all of you lovely people.

Morning all,
I haven't posted in simply ages but as 2014 is almost here I thought I would jump in today.
Hello rememberwhen, like you I have also joined the grocery challenge for January.
I like the idea of getting the house clean and tidy ready for the new year. Hubby is supposed to be golfing today so it will be easier for me to get on and tidy up. I did mention yesterday about putting away xmas decs but hubby wasn't keen. I did put away cards though! I will go through them today and make gift tags for next xmas.
Apart from this not much else planned. We are treating ourselves to a piece of steak with salad for our tea, steak is our yearly treat for new years eve.
It's lovely to be back posting on this thread.

Morning all
Stormy weather predicted here, but it's not here yet, no doubt it will arrive in time for me to drive to the in laws.
I'm feeling stressed already, I don't mind the drive & MIL is lovely, the problem is that BIL & his gf have invited themselves along and want to go for a meal, I don't actually mind them coming but unless the gf is very organised they will be late. We should be meeting at 12 & then going to the local carvery, I'm expecting them to arrive around 2 ish & we'll set off to the carvery around 3ish, which doesn't leave time for us to eat & get home before dusk falls & I can't see to drive. Also hubby & I ate out y'day & I'm not sure my stomach is up to 2 big meals, I might not eat, so that will solve one problem. MIL can't drive in the dark either, but they only live 10 mins from the carvery.
Time I had another cuppa.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
