Good morning all
Been up since 7 whilst dh & ds were still snoring, I've cleaned up, took most of the decs down just got to do the tree, and hoover up but that can wait as got to go up town for an opticians appointment at 12, DS also wants to go and spend some of his birthday/ Christmas money so no doubt I'll be dragged round the town a few times before he makes up his mind what he wants to buy, I am going to be good though and leave my bank card at home, start as I mean to go on in the new year, I will however take £5 with me as I need to buy some toilet roll and some cat food.
Rememberwhen - good luck with grocery challenge, I too have joined the January one, £150 to last me the month.
No washing being done here, even though I have got 2 loads to do, my gran would never wash on NYE nor NYD ...she always said you wash a member of family out or something like that?? so I've never done it.
Nothing fancy for tea tonight just sausage, mash and peas, and a bottle of HM peach wine to relax with this evening.
Hope you all have a lovely day ((hugs)) to those that need them xG.C July £21.09/£1000 -
Good Morning chums ,very wet 'n'windy here in Kent and looks like its set for the day I am at my youngest DDs until after lunch then off to the eldest's for the afternoon then this evening I will be going with her and my son-in-law into London to her in-laws for the evenings festivities. We normally have a nice Indian meal around 8-9 then watch Jools Holland and see the New Year in with them and lots of assorted friends and family and get back to DDs around 2.00.a.m.
I shall eventually get back to my own home tomorrow morning and there is where I will stay as my Christmas and New Year too-ing & fro-ing will be over for another year:):)
I love all the fun and festivities but I also enjoy getting back to my own little house and sorting out all my presents and tidying up and just generally 'pottering' around.
I have my 4 DGS on Thursday and Friday at their house as their Mum and Dad are back to work. Then the boys are all back to school next Monday and life gets back into the routine again for another Year:):)
I have lots to do when I get home as I want to list all of my food stores and write out my menu's for January.I am hoping to use up the food stocks a bit, and go to the supermarkets far less next month.January is always a loooong month it seems
I hope you all have a good New Year and I wish you all you wish for yourselves
Cheers chums

Morning everyone
Jacksmummy - I don't wash on NYD as the saying goes "it's supposed to wash someone away". But NYE is fine. It's stange how these vary from region to region! Since I've had my own home I've never washed on NYD - since we've had the caravan we've been away a lot of years for New Years Rallies and we always came home on NYD - so I'd have bag fulls of dirty washing that I couldn't wash until 2nd Jan - but was never ever remotely tempted to wash it on NYD!
Keep safe and well x

Hi all, I'm hoping its ok if I join you
Jacksmummy - homemade peach wine sounds delicious!!
Its very wet here today, rain woke me up this morning pounding on the windows.
I haven't much to do today, a bit of a tidy round (I don't know who comes into my house in the night and makes such a mess) but on the plus side my washing basket is empty!! I'm in shock.
Tonight I will grab something easy for tea, my ds will be at his Nannas for the night, I will be popping to the pub, but only for a couple and early on. I am 18 weeks pregnant, and drunk people, when your sober are just annoying
Hope you all have a good New Years Eve.0 -
Morning all,
Wet and windy here I think we are due another storm. need to put a wash on but am loathe to do it atm, We don't have a tumble dryer and I have always said I wont have one, but this house is getting more and more damp and I have noticed some mound growing on several places, I have always got washing hanging around so we have put it down to that, so we have been pricing a tumble up and have found the one we want, OH just has to move a shelf in order to get it in. I shall still dry outside as much as I can but it will be handy to finish things off.
DD is off out tonight with her friends and boyf, OH and I will probably stay in I really cant be doing with going out (getting old!)
Carbonara for dinner and maybe a bottle of fizz !
Have good ones all xx0 -
nmlc - so glad its not just me, my DH thinks I'm mad lol... and yes your right it is weird how these old wives tales are different region by region, my gran lived in the Midlands, I'm now in Kent and every person I've told about this have never heard of it.
Cheeseaddict - The peach wine was one of the first recipes we used when purchasing our winemaking equipment, it is an ideal recipe for beginners and cheap to make too, using just 3 tins of value peach slices....it really does taste lovely.G.C July £21.09/£1000 -
jacksmummy I am already worried about the grocery challenge lol. Everyone else seems to be spending much less than us so at least I know savings must be possible.
I've wrestled the tree back into the box for another year and tidied the post Christmas mess. Living room looks so much bigger already. Now off to tackle the freezer and figure out what food I can make that counts as party food for this eveningJanuary grocery challenge 0/4000 -
Morning all,
early appointment at the GPs - the thing on my eyelid can stay there (bother, but the alternative is a treatment that will cause more problems) and he whammed a flu jab in whilst I was answering his questions about the rheumatoid arthritis. DH was told to list all the problems he's having and GP will forward them to the heart consultant - whizzz and we were out, panting slightly. If you are worried about anything and need to ask a lot of questions etc, you see any of the other doctors! DH was quite rumpled by the experience.
Took DH for breakfast in town, picked up a few bits and had his watch battery changed which cost £20 & included a lifetime guarantee on the battery (ie free changes as long as the watch lasts).
I think I need to iron this afternoon, then have a bit of a tidy round before we set up our mini NYE buffet & try to stay awake till 12. Tomorrow the decs come down, and some kind of normality returns.
If I don't pop back later, may I wish you all as happy and as healthy a 2014 as possible, with the added bonus of peace and prosperity :beer:I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hello everyone
Wet and breezy today.
DH and I dropped DS2 to work as he has some overtime today. Then we had to go into town as I had some stuff to take back to Primark. I knew when I bought it I should have tried it on, but DH was with me and I just CBA!
He has an Opticians appointment shortly as he has a lumpy thing on his eyelid and apparently his GP can't refer him to whoever it has to be an Optometrist.
I managed to put away all the bits of decorations yesterday and neither of them said anything, reading all the above posts, I wonder if I dare try to take the tree down...
We don't have any plans for tonight, we did think about going to London to see the fireworks but the weather looks pretty yuckky and we don't fancy being cold and wet. DS2 has a party to go to and his friend is staying afterwards. I just hope they don't keep us awake half the night on the Xbox!
Enjoy your NYE evening what ever you are doing and I hope all your hopes and dreams for 2014 are fulfilled.0 -

I had a great time yesterday :T M cooked some lovely food. No-one offered to help her in the kitchen, we all know not to interfere when she's on a rollShe's one of those people who has ten things on the go at once then walks out of the kitchen with a mountain of food while looking as fresh as daisy – how does she do that?
We all mucked in with the clearing up, it took a while because we'd drunk too much and were staggering about

Mr tru went to Homebase yesterday, we finally have a new light in the bathroom, our old one was ugly and the rose was cracking. I didn't realise how bad it made the whole room look until the new one was up
I have a slight headacheso will just potter about today. We're not going anywhere tonight, I have no interest in NYE parties.
I won't be here at midnight so here you go
