Oh - and we are also Gluten/Wheat-Free!

:o it's difficult on gf to eat cheaply I find. We try to cut it out but find we get bored and can't find enough variety that we will all eat. Luckily we only suffer minor ailments eating gluten (me getting bloated and my asthma/allergies worsen being the worst). any recipes you love please LMk :)

Technically another NSD here. I did go to Sainsbugs, Mum asked me to get her sugar or sweetener (I got both) and when I was in I bought a bag of stuff for the foodbank trolley. None of which comes out of my GC budget.

    I only spent £3.60 for the FB stuff but did get a lot for my money. 3 x tins soup, 1 x potatoes, 1 x beans & sausage, 1 x chopped toms, 1 x peas, 1 x carrot, 1 x tuna, 1 pkt instant coffee, 1 box teabags.

I can't afford to do this every time, but I reckon a few quid once a month is doable.

Also, one of my new years resolutions to give time or money when I can afford it. Looking into volunteering for them too.

Make 6 kidney bean burgers a la Jack Monroe & 6 portions of pasta sauce for the freezer. Except, there was no room in my tiny freezer for it all. 2 burgers for dinner, 2 in fridge to take to Mum 2mo, along with 2 portions of pasta sauce! And now freezer defrosted & inventory done. Christmas cheeses grated (using my fab new processor thingy, Xmas pressie from Mum) and also squeeeeeezed into freezer where possible.

So motivated reading this & other threads on here, thanks everyone.
My name is CherryPie and I'm addicted to grocery shopping!!

    Hi!

I'm new to this site, and have just come across this challenge. Is it to late to join?

We regularly spend £600+ per month at the supermarket and I'm determined to get this under control.

There are four of us two adults and two children aged 8 and 5.

Our freezers and pantry/store cupboard are very, very well-stocked at the moment, and we have plenty of cleaning stuff, so I want to try and use up whatever is in the house and limit the new spend to fresh produce only as much as possible in January. To force myself to do is, I'm going to set January's budget very low (for us), with a view to moving to a more sustainable budget from February onwards.

January budget (from today, for four weeks to 1st Feb) - £120.

After this month's 'detox' I'd like to aim towards a regular £400 a month.

£10.16 spent in the butchers and I spent 6.74 in Asda.

So £17.90 for me for today and (£33.50+£17.90) = £50.40 to date.

Yesterday £8.09 in L*dl on tuna, cheese and F&V; and £1.98 on RTC chokablok mint ice cream in Tesc*..

Today was a very spendy day; but on necessities - clothes for the DDs and a piece of furniture for DD1's room from the BHF shop.

Grocery spends were £2.07 in FF on drinks and pb baguettes for tea to do paninis.
Also, £7.52 in HB but the majority of that was hair dye (desperately needs redoing) and a few toiletries. Haven't been there for ages, so thought i would have spent more; so i surprised myself. We did eat out today and spent a whack on bus fare to the shops, but I'm not including this in Grocery budget. Plus it's the first time i've been out in that direction in ten weeks.

I have ordered Mr T shop for Tues as it's the cheapest delivery slot (Does anybody know of any offers about for half price delivery saver at the mo?) Would have kept it at £40; but wanted to get my Dad a petrol voucher and they have bumped it up to £50 spend now to qualify, so added extra perishables. Hopefully tomorrow will be a NSD as I'm at work and Mon i have no plans to venture out other than to do the school run.

Off to sort out sig (£19.66 to add)and catch up on other threads in bed on my phone. No DDs tonight, so have stayed up much later than usual watching programmes i have missed whilst out/working and pottering about online.

    Night night all x
