Hello, can I join you? I've been a lurker on this forum for quite a while but really need to get serious about cutting down on what we spend and find I keeps me motivated to follow these threads. As it's my first month I've taken a guess and aiming for £300. It's Me, Hubby, son (7yrs) and daughter (15 months) plus I am a child minder so often have a couple more kids to feed at tea time.
I've done a bit of bulk shopping for the basics to build up my store cupboard again and spent today cooking and freezing meals so wont actually need to buy or cook much for a while now. Just topping up on milk and fresh stuff. Our downfall is that we don't have a car so cant shop around supermarkets and have to factor a taxi into our budget (about a fiver, hence the bulk buying and only doing it once a month!) The closet supermarket is a Waitrose which is not good!0 -

Hello all,
I will need to total up December's grocery spends shortly. For January please can I be put down for £145?
I definitely need to get my act together in 2014 as due to health issues I gave up work in 2011, and although we are managing on one salary I will be happier when we have some savings behind us.
Good Luck everyone.

Hello, everyone, and hope you're feeling better, zippychick.
Please can I go down for £400 for January? We have things left from December to use, plus a full pantry and freezer.
Happy New Year and good luck with budgeting to you all, and thanks to the peeps who manage this thread every month.

Hi, I'm new to this and would like to join in please
I will start off with a budget of £160 and see how I get on!
Thanks

After an expensive year (house purchase, move, reduced income over the last few months) I am back on board. I had to give up the challenge in the middle of last year as life was just too busy, but this year I am more settled and will persevere to lead the most frugal life I can.
I have one and a half freezers full of HM meals and YS meats, also a well-stocked 'pantry' and my first aim is to make a big dent in this before buying more food. I will find it a huge wrench to stop shopping, and will only need fresh milk, bread, F&V for January so this month I am aiming for just £30 although this will increase in later months. Good luck everyone - and make it fun!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
