Payday today so January starts here for me. I'm going for £350 this month. If I manage that, I'll look at whittling it down some more in February

Morning all
My budget for January is £225 and I've got £115.06 left with 18 days until payday  I'll be doing a freezer inventory today, so hopefully that's going to help with the impulse shopping, although I do want to get some whoopsied meat in the freezer if I can, so I'll be doing a round of the shops before they close today0 -
Oh, I am in!
I have had a LBM debt wise and have signed up to another challenge elsewhere on the boards to pay off as much of my debt as possible this coming year - so I need to join the Grocery Challenge each month to keep myself focused!
My budget for January is £300 - this includes food, cleaning and toiletries for seven of us - 3 adults, 3 teens and a 10 year old.

Hello everyone :hello: Long time lurker, first time poster & would love to join in.
Been following since October which was an eye-opening month for me where I discovered I was spending £400 a month on groceries - over £200 a month more than I thought I was! Have managed to get it down to under £250 in Dec, which was a 5 week month for me, so I'm pleased with that. Since January is a 4 week month for me (2nd - 29th), I've settled on a budget of £200, this is for 2 adults & 2 very fussy cats & includes all food, drink, pet supplies, toiletries & household supplies.
Thank you to everyone associated with this thread - you've helped me loads :T Good luck in January everyone!0 -
HI everyone. For this month I wold like to spend $100 on home groceries and $100 on the party food for sons wedding evening do at our home.
So $200 for January which seems a lot but only because of the party.0 -
Hi all....i was offline in December as my spends went out the window. Can you please put me down for 450 to get me back into the swing of things! I will try for less next month and so on. My month runs from the 1st to 31st.
I am doing a buffet tonight for my blokes family so leftovers will be great for lunch over next few days.
Also I am cooking Roast beef for dinner tomorrow for my family and my mum and dad. There will be some leftovers so I am going to meal plan for the rest of the week hopefully on things I have in the house. I have also invested in the 'safe with Jamie' book. I would love my freezer, fridge and cupboards to eventually be similar to that in this book, I will decide out of here what meals I will cook with leftover beef when I know what is left.
Can I have some advice please.
I have a 2kg (4lb) silverside of beef. I want to slow cook it in a fan oven (never done this before) what temp n roughly how long for if any beef cookers here?
Hope you all have a happy new year :beer:216/2018 (make ££ in 2018)

I would pot roast it with onions and liquid if you have a big enough dish? Otherwise cover your tray with foil to keep the steam in. I brown the meat to seal it first.
170 for at least 3 hours - depends how well done you want in. Good link here: http://www.simplybeefandlamb.co.uk/roasting-liquid

I've just posted in the December thread apologising for my absense - real life (wedding planning, work, a side-gig, Christmas etc etc) totally got away with me in December!
I'm all refreshed and de-stressed now though and ready to get back into the GC
Coxy - can you put me down for £165 in January please? Lowest we'll have gone but we do seem to have a good bit in...
I've had a decent start to frugalising the last couple of days - got half-price cream at Mr Ms (no 10% YS for us, it's rubbish for reductions) and made butter for the first time
then turned most of it into homemade ghee to keep better. Used the buttermilk to make scones.
Today I used some YS plums, one punnet to make some gorgeous spicy, sweet and sour plum sauce (for stir-fries/having with crispy duck) for the freezer and two punnets to make hopefully enough plum crumble filling for 6, as we might be having friends round at the weekend.
Also used some very dodgy-looking puff pastry (defrosted a few days ago and never used) and leftover saag aloo from last night to make puff pastry curry parcel type things - very very nice, I must say.
Nice to see you back have missed your lovely pics.Slimming World at target0 -
blue green I think! may I have your recipe for saag alloo please I love this many thanks xxxC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater
