UKPC Broken sign

Hi, the driver of the vehicle got a parking charge notice from UKPC. The UKPC sign on the road was broken in half, I have photo evidence. Would this be enough evidence to appeal straight away or should an appeal wait as the sticky for parking fines says until a notice to keeper is sent?

Thanks

The sign is not going to make much difference in handling this. Unless you are not the registered keeper wait until the notice to keeper arrives. I gather this is from a ticket on the car? And this is England or Wales ?
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

  • Yes this was a ticket on the car in England. It was for not displaying a valid permit on the car by a block of flats. When the driver returned to the car and found the ticket they then looked for any signs and the one closest was snapped in half.

Wait for them to get in touch, and the state of the sign will mean nothing.
you said it was for parking outside a block of flats, was this your own allocated space? ( just out of interest )

  • No the flats had nothing to do with parking the car there.

Wait for the letter to arrive then challenge it....

I could tell you a joke about a broken pencil, but it would be pointless, pretty much like your broken un readable sign, as well as your own existence. As well as all that your charge is excessive and and is clearly a penalty.
You must now forget about any idea that I shall be paying you a single penny, as you deserve less.
If you do not agree with the above you must send me a POPLA code, I am fully aware that the results of POPLA are binding upon you , but not on me, nah, nah, nah, de, nah.

By failing to provide a POPLA code but continuing your harassment campaign, you agree to pay £250 (payment details on reverse) payable within seven days of posting your letter (reduced to £230 if paid within three days). If you wish to appeal the charge, provide your name, date of birth, place of birth, gender, National Insurance Number, blood group, height, weight, copy of passport, copy of driving licence, address, proof of address in the form of four utility bills issued in the past three months, and a non-refundable cheque for £50 payable to Big Bad Dad - and submit your appeal to the MoneySavingExperts forum on parking fines, and await a decision from one of the regulars. Card payments are accepted with a 25% handling fee. If you wish for a receipt, provide a stamped addressed envelope and a further cheque for £10 for the service - if you want a receipt for the £10, restart the process, £10 enclosed in stamped addressed envelope, on and on ad infinitum, you are entitled to your receipt so there are no limits on number of times you can obtain one.
Do not write back to me unless you agree to these terms and conditions.

The others are slightly are joking with you, but I see you say you have read the sticky threads so you may know this already. You simply need to read the 'Newbies read this first' sticky thread near the top to see how to word a first appeal when you get the first letter as keeper:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

The newbies one also shows a link 'How to win at POPLA' which you will do. We win 100% of POPLA appeals with certain easily copied wording, regardless of circumstances.

Oh dear - no doubt snapped by a disgruntled resident then!!

When you state the car was by the block of flats - was this still on private land or on a road?

And to repeat what the others have stated - wait until you receive the Notice to Keeper before contacting UKPC.

With regards to the others half joking with you - there is another side here that the forum are advocating in that a claim may be made against PPCs should they not cancel the charge. I am personally in the process of filing a claim against UK Parking Control for payment on behalf of a relative who received a grovelling cancellation letter after POPLA upheld the appeal.

Hope that goes well for you.

Curiously, as far back as September my POPLA representation was also allowed against CP Plus (unreliable camera evidence). To this date CP Plus have not written to acknowledge this nor have they e-mail me.
