NYE going out or staying in?

  • I'll be spending NYE with the people I love most, my DH and kids :) after a few NYEs behind a bar pulling pints, breaking up "disagreements" and cleaning up the aftermath I'd much rather be at home where the only well-oiled idiots I'll encounter are the ones I invite in. AND I won't have to pay out a penny :D

I will be raising a glass to all the lovely MSE-ers who have been a massive help since my LBM and I will (fingers crossed) be celebrating being another CC down and looking forward to a year of debt killing :)

I will be staying in and hopefully having a few friends over, we will be ploughing through the mountain of chocs I got for Christmas. Got lots of alcohol as presents too so won't need to get any in. Nice cheap night :)

I'm hoping to stay in. OH and I have been invited to a fancy dress party, but turned it down because I don't want to spend money on fancy dress outfits and hideous taxi costs. I am hoping we receive no other invites (that sounds so mean doesn't it!!)

My friend may come over as she is newly single this year, so we might open a bottle of fizz (Xmas gift) and maybe treat ourselves to a takeaway.

  • Most likely staying in!

Last year I treated myself to the (then) new Michael McIntyre stand-up DVD, got a little bit tipsy and laughed myself senseless!

This year, unless I get a significantly better offer, I'll cook myself a nice dinner, have a 'Friends' DVD marathon and perhaps a few glasses of wine.

  • Will be staying in as usual, got 2 dogs that go nuts with the fireworks that are set off at midnight!
  • we'll be going out. Oh's cousin owns a pub and he is putting on a party there for the family. I usually don't like to go out a NYE but this will be fun and I am determined to reignite my social life. Fed up with staying in and missing out on life!

  • Hi

I'm lucky enough for where I work have a big NYE party, close to where I live so can walk and no entrance fee. I have a couple of drinks in my fridge for before I go out then tap water, I don't really drink anyway :D
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada

I'll be working til 7pm then going down to Hertfordshire to spend it with my god daughter as it will be her 9th birthday! :)
Tbh tho I prefer spending it at home or round a friends house these days as I don't like big crowds of people and ny always seems very over rated to me, I used to celebrate and go out when I was younger but I didn't really enjoy it, it just felt like something you were 'supposed' to care about. It's just a date at the end of the day and you can do the same thing any day if you wanted too!

Probably going for a drink in a local pub but shes working nights and going to have to be there by 10pm, so will be back home alone.

  • Probably staying in or heading around to a friends house. I'm in my early 20s and I hate NYE... Pubs and clubs are packed, somebody usually is lost and there is always a fight!

I'd rather settle in with a bottle of wine and a takeaway!
