Back to the post - the tickets should have been sent via special delivery or tracked courier.

Quite rude! and not at all helpful, unlike some of the nice people on here who genuinely tried to help.

I have 700 feedback and have ebayed since 2004, so I do 'Have a clue' I also am a really busy person, and have other things in my life to worry about, Ebaying is not a job for me, its just a way I get rid of unwanted stuff.

I have the audacity to say he scammed me, as he didn't reply or acknowledge my friendly email to say I had sent the item and then he waited 10 days to contact me, on the day before the event, since Ebay were promoting their Buyer protection scheme every time one logged in, it would seem to me he chanced it for free tickets.

Ebay contacted me, as the card I had registered wouldn't work. Rather bizarre, since it worked perfectly well in shops and other online stores, and still does.

Thank you to Soolin and all the other people who are genuinely interested in helping.

    SFG x

I think the point some people are trying to make is selling something and then if there is a problem saying "tough luck I have better things to do" is what gives Ebay a bad reputation. Whether you are selling items as a business or unwanted items you still have a duty to the buyer.

Put yourself in the buyers seat. Buys tickets for an event. Tickets don't arrive. The seller says they will get back to you and never does. An event you thought you had tickets for you have lost. If you have paid for train or coach tickets for the event you have lost those too. I can understand why they would be upset.

You lost the case so you are going to pay. Personally anything over £10 I send by recorded or by courier. They may not always be covered by insurance but at least you have peace of mind that they have really got lost rather than you are being scammed. I think if you tried to fight Ebay they'd just ban you for life.
  • I agree with others you will have to pay
I sold joblot of small inexpensive items in November
After 3 weeks I put proof of postage in bin as I assumed buyer had received
Few days later I received an email stating item never arrived
Because I presumed buyer had received items and I could not produce pop I paid up
    Lesson learnt
keep pop until feedback is left

Feedback is meaningless, POP should be kept for a minimum of 180 days as that is how long a bank chargeback can occur.

What was the event? Do you know if the tickets get scanned in at the event by a barcode of some sort? If you can prove that the tickets were used it may help?

That said anyone could have got hold of them and used them. Just an idea.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to find the buyer on Facebook or Twitter (given that you have their email address). They may have posted about the concert they have been to or one they were missing due to tickets not arriving.

Problem is that it's widely known that if you buy something off ebay that does not come signed for you can have the goods and get a near enough instant refund off ebay. Plus if the buyer makes too much fuss about being cheated ebay will just ban them.

or indeed if you buy from anywhere remotely. Fortunately most people aren't dishonest.

That is why for anything of value you should send recorded just for peace of mind. It may cost you an extra quid or so but at least you don't have to worry about them claiming its not arrived when it has.
