They can't make you sign a disclaimer but they can sue for deformation of character if you post things online.0

No one can 'make you' sign anything. If you say or write untrue negative things about them or their business you need to be aware than you could be sued for slander/libel.
Also, a publican can ban anyone for any reason (provided it isn't due to a protected characteristic under equality laws) so whether you think the ban is fair or not you just need to lump it. Get over it an move on.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
If you want to drink there then they can ask you to sign anything (within reason). If you do sign something then you have entered in to a contract with possible consequences if breached.
If you don't want to then they can of course bar you. The choice is yours.0 -
I am a landlord and there is no way I can make anybody sign a disclaimer. It could be offered as part of a bigger solution to a problem but that would need agreement from both parties.
You also have to be careful what you put on the likes of Facebook etc. since you can be held legally responsible for any comments made. What we have done in the past when someone has put spiteful comments on Facebook is to publish the CCTV footage from the bar to show them for the idiots they are and prove to the world that they are liars.35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good

Unfair though it may be, isn't that a breach of the data protection act?0 -
No, it's the pub's "data" to do with as they wish.
Apart from that, the Data Protection Act covers only data that you have submitted. It doesn't cover videos or images made on private property (or even public property FAIK).0 -

What responsibilities does the licensee have for images caught on CCTV?
Under the Data Protection Act 1998, the licensee is the data controller for any CCTV images caught on cameras in their premises which can be used to identify an individual. Licensees must ensure that all CCTV images that can be used to identify an individual are captured on camera, used, stored and disclosed in line with the data protection principles.
It is important that signs are displayed explaining that CCTV is in operation. Other than in exceptional circumstances any sound recording function on the CCTV system should be disabled. Further guidance on these and other matters is available in our CCTV Code of Practice.

Naturally if the person then apologizes and asks us to take it down we will as long as they agree to remove their comments as well - but you know the nature of the internet it is amazing how quickly stuff gets copied and posted elsewhere - oh dear me, what a shame, never mind.35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good

On the few occasions we have done that we have simply been providing evidence in response to an idiot lying through their teeth on Facebook - if they decide to go public by posting on Facebook then I do not consider it a breach of data protection by showing that they are liars and idiots. If they did not want it public then I am sure they would not have posted it on Facebook - I am only helping them.

Whether you consider it a breach of DPA is irrelevant. I severely doubt the ICO would agree with you since they say the images should only be released to the police where an actual crime has been committed/the police have a valid reason (valid under DPA) for requesting the info and then go on to say they shouldn't be made available to the media or posted online.
I do hope all your clientele are ignorant of their rights or else your workplace could end up with a very hefty fine and/or lawsuit against them. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
