I'd say it depends on the company rather than the job. Fast food chefs and manual laborers will require English if that's the company policy/culture. Although any job dealing with public directly I'd say requires local tongue.

Multinationals often have English as the standard business language everyone is expected to use.

This happens even where you are based in a non-English country, and the company has no British, US or other English-speaking roots. For example Novartis, Aventis, Sony-Ericson all have English as their internal language I think.

This is because if you put people of a mix of nationalities together, English is often the language they will have in common. So it's the language of business.

I suggest you contact some employment agencies and see what's going, but IMO you will be at a disadvantage to someone who speaks Dutch unless you have sought after skills. Is TEFL in demand in Netherlands?

Find yourself a British company based in Holland.

    English tutor?

    English speaking tour guide?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Get a job in a call centre. It doesn't seem to matter what language you speak. Whenever I call my bank I have to speak to someone who struggles to speak English.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • There is a certain trade that's legal in Holland... you don't need to be able to speak at all...

Due to personal circumstance I live in Holland. I don't know Dutch but I am learning it. Everyone speaks English so I can easily communicate but you still require Dutch for most jobs. I need jobs I can do that put food on the table, without knowing Dutch. Please help! So far I've thought of, 1. fast food chef, 2. manual labour, 3. deliveryman (pizza or leaflets) 4. crop picking 5. cleaner

hotel receptionist, ideally hotels that have mainly english-speaking tourists.
