Need Help Confussed about collage/uni

I personally attend MMU, I don't have any A level qualifications so maybe I am a little biased towards those institutions who don't set their sights too high. Had it not been for those institutions, I would not be able to work towards gaining a degree and therefore be able to provide a better life for my son. When I say education should be open to everyone, I mean that if a person has a desire to learn something, why should they be stopped? Levels of ability vary quite drastically amongst people and I just don't understand the elitist attitude some people appear to have. So what if my degree is not going to be awarded from Cambridge or Oxford? Surely it is about what I make of my life after uni that counts??

Of course education should be available at different levels for everybody who has a desire to learn, but why call all the courses degrees and pretend that they all represent the same level of achievement? All that happens is that people who know and understand about education make informed choices and those who come from family backgrounds with little or no experience of HE get conned.

There are students and their families all around the country making sacrifices of time and money for qualifications of little worth. In the future people will look back at this period in astonishment that governments were able to fool so many people in the causes of political expediency and lower unemployment numbers!
