Of course they discriminate against which University they went to. If someone is going to interview 4 people and they get 6 applications 4 of which are from the likes of oxbridge, durham etc and 2 are from (won't name real 'Universities') the university of west countryside - who do you think will get the interview (assuming same degree classification).

Not necessarily true... they have SO many applicants for graduate jobs these days, someone with a 2:2 from a "good" uni and lots of relevant work experience will be more likely to get an interview than someone with a 1st and not much work experience.

I don't think they're actually allowed to reject someone just because they didn't got to a top uni though.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

What do you class as a 'mickey mouse uni'?

Perhaps you also need to use a spell check?!!

Wow, sorry I spelt something wrong whilst lying down and typing on an informal forum I am so sorry. But surely that should read spell checker?

I personally, like many people who did go to a decent University and work in large organisations see alot of the ex-polys and new Universities as cheapening further education. Can you really compare a institution that requires two E's to get in, to one that requires AAA-ABC?

No, definitely spell check, though that can be interchanged with spell checker. However, strictly speaking, a checker works in a bank in the US!

I think you are overgeneralising about ex-poly's and new universities. I agree, some are very poor, but there are others that do produce candidates comparable to more traditional universities.

Some candidates may be comparible but the majority won't be.

To check would be to confirm etc (in person) whilst checker would be something that would do or automate this process - def checker as you yourself (unless sat with a dictionary) are not performing the task.

If you want to argue over semantics or the deterioration of higher education perhaps you could start a new thread? This hasn't really got anything to do with the current topic.

Ok, it wasn't my intention to start a debate about whether or not the OP should be attending uni. Yes, you are right, college is not a particularly difficult word to spell, neither is campus, find or click, however that is not to say that the OP cannot study towards a degree in Computing... It might have been a little different had they said English Language. I guess I am just saying that it is a bit harsh to judge when we don't know the full story (the OP might be dyslexic etc.)

I personally attend MMU, I don't have any A level qualifications so maybe I am a little biased towards those institutions who don't set their sights too high. Had it not been for those institutions, I would not be able to work towards gaining a degree and therefore be able to provide a better life for my son. When I say education should be open to everyone, I mean that if a person has a desire to learn something, why should they be stopped? Levels of ability vary quite drastically amongst people and I just don't understand the elitist attitude some people appear to have. So what if my degree is not going to be awarded from Cambridge or Oxford? Surely it is about what I make of my life after uni that counts??

Like I said, I am not trying to offend anyone, I just don't think that picking holes in someones spelling is a constructive way of offering advice.

And it is exactly that attitude that has opened up 3rd rate institutions that masquerade as Universities and dish out worthless degrees - these degrees which everybody now have devalue proper degrees.

Is a degree not about acheiving a level of education?
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

yes and theoretically all degrees should more or less be equal. Alot of these 'new universities' are far from being equal and degrade what degrees are.
