Hi. Can you put me down for 20 days please
This will be great for me as I spend loads on food for work. I will aim to only spend £1 a day too. Not sure how realistic this will be but I'll do my bestMake £10 a day, October 2023 - £105/£3100 -
As it goes WTBSE, it'll be for tomorrow's lunch but I'm thinking of using a pack of short crust pastry tonight, along with some frosen spinach we have in and crumble in some blue cheese, and roll into pinwheels for lunches.
We don't eat blue cheeses but were left a heap of the stuff from Christmas so am thinking of using it up this way.
This seems to be crying out for nuts to be added, but we don't have any pecans for me to crush into it, and not sure what nuts we have other than unsalted peanuts and unsalted cashews....April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Could I join please? I would like to go for 22 days.
We have a subsidised restaurant at work and I am bad for buying breakfast most days and lunch quite often too. I am having a super frugal Jan so want to cut both of these spends out completely.
I need some new lunch ideas too as the GF bread I have to eat is awful:(

I think cashews would be lovely in that xMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Is GF gluten free? What kind of things does that mean that you can't have? I don't want to suggest things and then realise you can't eat them!
I can't eat anything with gluten in it which is found in wheat, barley and rye so I can't have normal bread, crackers or pasta or anything with pastry or breadcrumbs and to be on the safe side am better off making things from scratch. I can have soup, salad, GF bread made into sandwiches, GF pasta or leftovers, rice. I am just stuck in a bit of a rut.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

I have a detox recipe that is actually quite yummy, it's dairy and wheat free and you can make a load of it to last a few days. I have it with the southern style quorn burgers or you can have it with anything really.. Jacket spud filling? I can't eat spuds.
It's basically:
Short grain brown rice, cooked
Feta cheese, cubed
Handful of peas, cooked
Prawns
Tin of mackerel, drained. Or poached salmon flakes if preferred.
Spring onion, chopped
Cucumber slices, chopped
Lettuce, shredded
Lemon juice
Black pepper
Vinaigrette of some description.
Cook the rice, whatever quantity you want, then add all the other ingredients, give it a mix, done! XCredit Card Debt:[STRIKE]£12991[/STRIKE] £12526

Ooft that is limiting. I don't tend to eat sandwiches because I find they don't fill me up.
I will bring leftovers from the previous night's dinner and reheat them (things like chilli are good, and it's easy enough to microwave a baked potato too). Another option would be something like a fritatta/frittata (I can never remember how many T's go where!) which is just as good hot as cold. The last one I made used a recipe online for reusing gammon and we also had tatties and peppers in there too.
Make a really good hearty soup that you can heat up in a mug. Dip some GF bread to disguise the taste of it
Make some kind of grazing box full of things you enjoy. When I do this I will bring things like cottage cheese, crackers, fruit, ham, whatever is kicking around the fridge really. The same can go for making your own salads, but it's not really the weather for either of these yet!
Does any of that help?0 -
Thank you B17C and moomin for the ideas.
I can't stand fish or seafood but that salad would be good with some crispy bacon instead.
I forgot about fritatta. I sometimes make crustless quiches (in yorkshire pudding tins) which are nice with salad or baked beans and you can stick anything in.
The grazing box is a good idea as I could have lots of bits of meat, veg, salad, nuts and cheese.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
