npower complaint... havent collected payment in nearly a yr

I totally agree, if you know the amount you are supposed to be paying. My online account is still showing I am £92 in credit, the exact same as in September. With our direct debits varying wildly from £5 - £145 per month, as seems to be the case with many, people just have no idea what they need to be paying. Even when you phone up repeatedly and email them, they cannot tell you. During one 45 minute conversation I had with them recently, they couldn't find any record of our address having an account with them..

For anyone else in this situation I would just gently suggest that you keep hold of your money and save it until the bill comes.

Whilst I completely understand the OP's situation - I fail to comprehend your 'spin' on it.

Two simple solutions:

1. On the fourth of every month, take two minutes to check that your direct debits went out as planned. After that, whatever's left over is yours to spend.
2. Split your monthly bills into a separate account for direct debits and don't spend from it. That way if a company fails to debit their £100 a month, after a year there's £1200 sitting in your account to give them.

Minimum effort, job done.
