Sorry I am baffled can't believe they have not checked their bank balance at all in a year considering all the available aps on mobile phones. I can check my balance and also my direct debits on my phone while waiting for a bus or in my lunch hour so am fully aware what goes in and out, any savvy person would be fully aware of what direct debits are going out and what they amount to.I pay by direct debit for my gas and electric but I also know approx when my bill is due, surely they would of known at least after 6months they were due a bill. Yes npower are a little at fault but am sorry but they are not to blame with this day and age of the internet people need to be more switched on as we have the power at our finger tips it only takes a minute to check.
Not everyone has the luxury of a smart phone - we don't have them in our house. They seem an expensive excess to us, but we have a PC and a laptop alreadyThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

We are all born with a brain but it seems fewer and fewer press the engage button
I totally agree, if you know the amount you are supposed to be paying. My online account is still showing I am £92 in credit, the exact same as in September. With our direct debits varying wildly from £5 - £145 per month, as seems to be the case with many, people just have no idea what they need to be paying. Even when you phone up repeatedly and email them, they cannot tell you. During one 45 minute conversation I had with them recently, they couldn't find any record of our address having an account with them..
For anyone else in this situation I would just gently suggest that you keep hold of your money and save it until the bill comes. The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

Really! Thank you for that gem!
Did you not understand?[/QUOTE]
Whilst I completely understand the OP's situation - I fail to comprehend your 'spin' on it.
Are you going to get even more patronising now, I have refused to agree? You seem such a lovely person, I wish you a happy new yearThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
All my direct debits go out before the 3rd of every month... What evers left over is money to live off etc... I dont have the exact amount left over every month... I get commission.... And that money is always spent.
Two simple solutions:- On the fourth of every month, take two minutes to check that your direct debits went out as planned. After that, whatever's left over is yours to spend.
- Split your monthly bills into a separate account for direct debits and don't spend from it. That way if a company fails to debit their £100 a month, after a year there's £1200 sitting in your account to give them.
