Dangerous driving - follow up

I witnessed a near miss on the road today, which could have potentially been very nasty, and was (IMHO) caused by reckless driving - basically the driver at fault didn't have his eyes on the road, and no sense of the traffic around him when he cut into it without indicating and continued to do so in spite of a sustained sound warning from another vehicle.
I've reported the incident via 101, and am aware that there will be CCTV camera footage because I have checked with the business outside which the near miss occurred.
My question is whether the Met genuinely follow up such calls? Or were they just humouring me?

Highly unlikely they will do anything as unless its caught by CCTV then it goes down as an unsolved crime and impacts their stats
I had a bag stolen once, allegedly as I didnt see the thief take it however it wasnt theft but lost property according to the officer on the front desk of the station I reported it to.0 -
I think you should join the Police or just drop stuff like this.
You will never get someone done for a near miss and the Police won't waste time searching through cctv0 -

It's a near miss and reckless driving is no longer an offence so you work it out.0 -
I wonder, though, whether they'd be influenced by the vehicle being known to them - say perhaps belonging to someone currently banned, or perhaps uninsured? Perhaps it would form part of a 'bigger picture' that might inform subsequent action/interest/intervention?Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

So what if they are banned?
There is no evidence a disqualified driver was driving as the op can't name the driver.0 -

My reason for reporting - I was told that the info would be shared with the intelligence unit. It wouldn't surprise me if the driver did not have a license or insurance, or was part of a gang - but it's for the police to uncover.
Aren't gang members allowed to drive then?0 -
No accident was caused, no one hurt, no vehicles or property damaged. Does the OP really believe the police will be interested?0

Gang member, drug dealer, arms smuggler, hitler, pol pot and satan all rolled into one. So this person has driven in a way that displeases you but caused nothing to happen? The police must get onto this straight away.0 -
