Locking wheel key
Options
Hi,
I am not sure if anybody can help me, but I need a new tyre for my car and the locking key has been worn down too much that it can no longer be used. So basically I am wondering if I need to go to the dealer (Vauxhall) to order a new key or will any key that is suitable for Corsa's fit? I need to remove the nuts on my wheel.
My only problem is when I bought the car the wheel locking kit did not have a code in that come with the set, so I am not sure if I will be able to get the exact key.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Find the local car thief, they usually have one that takes them straight off.
The only people these locking wheel nuts tend to hold up are the owner.Be happy...;)0 -
Go to your local dealer with the key and see if they can work out which one it is. Failing that, go to a good, local independent tyre fitting place as they will be able to get it off for you. If none around, search on ebay for the good removal sockets (they have a reverse thread inside that bites the nut/bolt). Either way, also go to a scrappy and get four ordinary bolts/nuts and throw the locking ones away. They are far too much bother on an ordinary car and few street vermin go to the effort of stealing them nowadays.0

My local tyre guys replaced my tyres by using a special gadget they had for removing the wheel nuts using firce externally rather than internally on the locking mechanismPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

A Vauxhall dealer will have a key to remove them, once done replace with ordinary nuts.
Had the same problem with our Seat, the local Seat dealer removed the locking nuts, replaced with standard & didn't charge a penny.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
I have a Vauxhall and a few years ago my key snapped and I did not have a number.
I took it to the local dealer and they got one of the mechanics to match it one of his sockets. Most of the garages carry a full set of all availible locking keys and I was not charged for it either.

I wouldn't replace them with ordinary nuts. The locking nut is to stop the wheel being stolen, especially if it's an alloy. It's no big deal to get a spare from the main dealer - honestly. It also looks as if you can get replacements online. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-LOCKING-WHEEL-NUT-KEY-ALL-NUMBERS-FROM-100-200-AVAILABLE-GENUINE-GM-/151180973941I have a Vauxhall and a few years ago my key snapped and I did not have a number.

This is exactly what I meant by going to the main dealer.0 -
Get the main dealer to remove them and replace with normal nuts, more hassle than they're worth IMO, no-one steals alloys anymore, it's nearly 2014 not 1989, the whole car is more likely to go missing before the wheels do.0

certianly true for factory alloys on cheap cars. Ebay is full of set of 4 used alloys for £150-£200. They have no real value and thieves will be bonkers to go to lengths to lift these wheels.
But on a mk4 golf forum there was a guy who had his whole car stole. Car was valued at £2500 tops, owner had £1000 3sdm alloys on and I suspect the car was nicked just for the alloys.0 -

I'm not so sure. Anything nickable can still be nicked. The chrome effect valve caps on my wife's MGF were for ever being nicked !!!!!!!0
