I've updated the spreadsheet with all the new payments and totals, I can't change the front sheet but hopefully minicooper will be along soon and can just edit that when she gets a chance.

Keep going everyone, we are two-thirds of the way through this challenge!

Thanks Jonesy! I will take my laptop to a nearby WiFi cafe at the weekend and I'll update then!

    Mat_Lock - I didn't forget cash back. £120 + a £25 gift voucher, thanks very much! :T

Getting on well with work so far, pay day on Friday. It's been an expensive few weeks though, and this will be a reduced pay. I've moved to a big city though, so lots of free things on to keep me entertained (minus the £1.60 train fare)!

    Back at the weekend :)

In an attempt to control our food shop spending I've been buying stuff out of a single bank account with enough cash for food shop only. We have also tried to be sensible about what we buy. Been ok do far!
  • end of month update for me :)

    Morning all :)

Just paid £80 off my card balance. So I'm now standing at:

    £2680.67/£5426.67 49.40%

So close to hitting the 50% mark!! :j

Also chucked a few quid in the ISA for our holiday savings. Feels a bit weird not using that money to try to clear the card, but the more I can save for our holiday the less will end up on the card in the end.

Also put a bit of shrapnel in my sealed pot for Christmas expenses. :xmastree:

Good news on the new place mini cooper!! :T

going to try and eat out of cupboards and freezers to help with debt reduction until the end of year.

Blimey, how full are your cupboards!! :D

I have a few things to try and sell on Facebook and some of DD's clothes to sell on Ebay so will do that today and hopefully get them all sold before I go back to work and am too busy! I need to buy DD a new winter coat so some of that money will probably have to go towards that (depending on how much her school shoes cost), then 10% will go in DD's Colombia pot and the rest either towards the holiday or card or both. ;)
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!

This is an area of my budget that I constantly struggle with!!:o:(

It would be interesting if people have any tips or advice. I've done the grocery challenge before but it always goes wrong.

I've tried various things but with little success. Last month I took out the cash and split it in to separate envelopes for each week plus a chunk of money to pay for a butcher shop and extras that we need. It started okay but I ended up dipping in to the next week's envelope early and spent some money on my card as well.

However, it was better than before and I will get there in the end. This month I have done the same.

I have my normal £200 (for everything for 2 adults & 1 child).

I have budgeted £25 each week for the weekly shop. 5 x £25
And £75 for other food shopping (toiletries, dishwasher tablets, stuff that needs stocking up and meat from the butchers etc). 1 x £75.

Fingers crossed it improves this month and maybe next month I can nail it!! ;)

Excellent work mini :) £120 and a £25 giftcard is not too shabby indeed.

Just got to wait for that cashback to actually materialise. I am still waiting for my £100 from SKY. Now been pushed back to mid October :(
