It's Orange who "say it takes too long" and where it "costs too much" allegedly.
Indeed, they drag their feet, but it's the cheapest way to unlock it properly.

Those 'millions' are not doing what the OP wanted, which was to unlock the phone. If those hobbyists want to pay every time to jailbreak (following an iOS update, which relocks it) it is about the most un-MSE waste of money going.

iPhones are locked or unlocked by changing a flag on Apples server, when you change the sim the phone contact Apple and locks/unlocks depending on that flag.

Only the carriers have a legitimate way to unlock the phone, any other way may be removed when the phone gets an upgrade. or contacts apple for any other reason.

Some places may claim they can do official unlocks and that means someone at the network doing the codes on the side, It will work but cost more and at some point there may be an audit and unlocking removed.

Long and short get Orange to do it, it's the only way that will be guaranteed to work and your phone stay unlocked.

Mine was done from eBay over a year ago works fine never had any trouble form Apple and it was not jail-broken and still is not jail-broken
Just Unlocked and still updates fine though Apple

Mine was locked to Orange that's why i went to eBay it was Unlocked in about 3 days were Orange was a month or over at the time
looks like things have got worse at Orange for Unlocking iPhone's.

Doesn't change the fact its someone doing them on the side at a network. If they get caught or there's an audit then it may be relocked without you knowing.

Chances of it happening are slim, but given these type of unlocks usually cost more than the "direct" way of contacting the network its not usually money saving.

    1. do not try to use evasi0n unless you know what you doing as you may brick your phone
    2. EE directly is the safest and cheapest (£20.42) way to unlock your phone, but you need to be their customers for at least 6 months. If you are not their customers find someone who is and let im use it your handset for 1 day and ask him/her to fill in online unlock form. They say it takes up to 28 days but in real life it should be done within 5-7 working days. they just want you to stay with them. thats all
