There are certain exemptions where you can fit a back boiler in a property if you have no other possibilities though it's near impossible these days.
Why on earth would you want to jump through hoops to try and find someone to install an old inefficient piece of junk though?

Money saving. It would cost £KKs to have modern combi boiler installed. While one of these old back boilers would simply replace the Parkray solid fuel boiler with minimum fuss.

Already have gas supply to the property.

Only grants that exist are for people who claim benefits that I'm not entitled too. Even then they are just for boiler swaps not change of fuel type.

The answer is NO!
You can buy a modern condensing back boiler but they're a !!!!!! to install in an existing fireplace.
There's no point in going through "well if I did this...." its not legal and no-one with a brain would do it for you anyway.
Besides by now the local scrap man will have emptied the skip and weighed it in by now!

Apart from the efficiency issue, what about when a part fails that is now obsolete and you have to replace the whole thing anyway? Definately not a good idea.
