Primus - £11.33ish a Month over 2 Years for landline rental and Unlimited Broadband

Hi All,

I have been visiting MSE for a long time however this is my first post! I think this is a great deal so feel compelled to share it with you all!

If you are prepared to sign up to a min. 18month contract with Primus, I have worked out that you can get your line rental and unlimited broadband down to just over £11.33 a month over a 2 year period.

It will involve paying line rental upfront for 12 months at a time but I do think the saving is well worth this.

You will also need a Quidco account to qualify for £60 cashback when you sign up via their website. The £60 cashback is included in arriving at the £11.33 a month.

Here is a breakdown:

Line Rental over 2 years: £240 (£120 paid upfront and another £120 in 12 months time)
First 6 months unlimited broadband at £2 a month: £12
Further 18 Months unlimited broadband at £4 a month £72
P and P for wireless router: £7.95
Connection: Free
Quidco Cashback: -£60

Total: £271.95
Divided over 24 Months = £11.33125

Obviously you will not be paying £11.33 a month, this is just what it will work out at but if you can afford to pay the line rental upfront then I think it is a great saving. Also, this will be subject to Primus keeping their prices at the same rate over the 24 month period however as this is significantly below what most people are prob currently paying then I would say even if there was a slight price increase, chances are you would still be getting a competitive deal.

Please remember you must sign up via Quidco to get this deal to work out at the above. If you don't, you will miss out on the £60 saving!

Hope somebody benefits from this!

Thanks

  • That's a brilliant deal, shame I'm in the process of switching to Plusnet at the moment or I would have gone with that. I just need to get switched then I can get their line rental saver deal which is £10 pm instead of £14.50. So a similar deal, but £4 a month for unlimited broadband is amazing. And i'm getting £35 cashback not £60. So yeah amazing deal! thanks for sharing.
  • Hi Pitchshifter,

Are you sure you can't cancel Plusnet? Surely there should be a cooling off period?

    Nat :-)
  • Just looking into that, but to be honest I don't want to complicate matters too much as I got a pretty good deal with plusnet, I think I'm going to let them activate my line and go through with the order. To be precise this is the deal I got:

Unlimited BB £2 pm for first 12 months then its £10pm
Line Rental £14.50 pm (can choose to pay 12months upfront for £120, but couldn't find the option during the sign up process)
    Free router p+p £5.95
Quidco -£35 tracked and should get around February

So if I don't pay upfront for line rental that's £174
    £24 for BB
    £5.95 p+p
    -£35 quidco

    total for 1 year = £168.95 /12 = £14.08

If I'm able to knock £54 off by getting line rental saver
    then it's £114.95 for 1 year or £9.57 pm !!!!

But that's my first year only, then I might switch if Primus still has a smililarly good deal as now.

Where is the line rental saver price given as £120 ? I can only find a reference to £131.88, which is £10.99/month (answer to question 1).

  • Pitchshifter,

Do you have to pay for line connection if you don't already have a bt line?
  • Sorry, I stand corrected, I thought it was 9.99 not 10.99.
Well then it's not as big a saving as I thought. Oh well 11 is better than 14.50.

Wise decision, Primus have a pretty poor reputation on these forums, problems with billing and reliability in the past.

    Pitchshifter,

If you dont already have live line connection in the house then YES there will be a charge up to £50 depending on which suppliers you go for.
What happens if you push this button?
  • I recently renewed my Plusnet Line Rental Saver and it cost me £137.88, saving £36.12 on paying it monthly.
