As I posted before my husband has been a Mason for 30 years or more. It is a way of networking but no more than a Golf Club or other organisation.
Masons are not all "business men". In my husband's lodge there are a retired publican, retired police officer, a race/diversity advisor, two welders, a financial adviser, an owner of a small manufacturing company, a chef, a solicitor, a university lecturer, a C of E vicar.
I do feel it is an ageing organisation and his lodge have difficulty in recruiting new and younger members. Our son, for instance, will come to the socials with his partner but is not interested in joining.0
