Hi All!
OMG this thread excites me so much lol I'm looking forward to Christmas 2014 already wahoooo! Have been MIA for a while, I sloped off towards the end of last year as became really busy with various things!
Personal goal for 2014 is to finally become pregnant after trying since oct 2011! Found out in June this year that I have Polycystic ovaries and low progesterone, we have been referrd to the assisted conception unit at Birmingham Womens Hospital so really hoping they will be able to help and 2014 will be our year!
Hope everyone had a fab christmas and hers to 2014!

Ps my birthday is 30th august!xx
We've been trying since Feb 2010 - unexplained infertility (NHS gives up testing after the basics) and we've had two missed miscarriages - great we can (eventually) fall pregnant, but worrying that there may be an issue with carrying to term. Good luck, and if you ever need some advice (sadly I'm a bit of an expert) feel free to PM meblue_eyed_girl wrote: »Morning everyone
found this and just had to share with you
I think we sometimes underestimate how much our homemade gifts actually cost.
Take care everyone

Blue eyed girl, don't suppose you know where that was from? I'm tempted to stock a few for craft fairs etc, the comments that people make are unbelievable
Well I've managed to upload 3 recipes today to my blog, so after it being neglected for quite a while, I'm feeling very smugI should probably sort the books out, as I hate to admit I got bored part way through yesterday and the entire flat now looks like a library :rotfl:

Hi all,

bought 5 packs of 7 cards for 25p each, 2 5m rolls of wrap for 50p each, a pack of 30 small, square cards (to use as tags) for 50p and a box of 8 crackers for £1.75 from Mr As this morning.
nanamia - I still have the lurgy meaning I can't visit dad as I don't want to infect him. His meds have been upped again and mum's discussed with us whether it's fair to put dad through more chemo....unfortunately, I don't think it is
I don't like NYE either, haven't done since the novelty of staying up wore off in my mid teens - I like my early nights too much0 -

It started in May 2012 as a Christmas organisation thread. Last year we decided to have an all year thread, which we are doing again this year.
We cover everything now. Good news and bad. Births and deaths.
We post about any bargains we find. If you are looking for anything post it on here and we will look for it for you.
Some of us make our gifts and some buy them. But mainly you can mention Christmas any time of the year without anyone moaning at you.
ETA the links on the first page are just they incase anyone needs them. ( I bet half the posters on here have never needed any of them)
2nd ETA just realised the bit you meant in the first post about not wanting to join the thread. It was aimed at the people that just like to make stupid comments for the fun if it. I didn't want the first few pages full of posts about this Christmas not being over yet. Now we have a few pages I can delete that bit. xxx
In my head I know that organising now is a good idea. But fore front of my mind is good god no get lost christmas LOLOL!! :rotfl:
4 years ago I started crafting a cross stitch band to go round the christmas cake. So I am sat here working on that now in the hope it will be completed for next year :j In the mean time I am going to get cards and wrapping in paper in the sales though as we are running low on them. They can then go in the christmas box to be shoved up in the loft.
There how does that sound ...0 -
I enjoy coming on here for crafty ideas, hamper ideas, getting to know other Christmas nuts who can talk about things they buy throughout the year. Support each other in day to day lives. And come October the excitement really starts as we head towards the busy season and getting organised.
I have got so many ideas from these lovely ladies. Not to mention the advice and support in harder times. All through the year.
They spur me on to get organised to save and prepare. And I love it.
I love seeing names I've known from the beginning. And love seeing new names join us.
They are the friendliest bunch I have come across on MSE and saved me a fortune over the last couple of years. Ill def be sticking around for 2014 x0 -
Hi all
I am back to work tomorrow so I have taken my tree down:( to let me put the furniture back and have a good clean. :j
I have left all my ornaments and 8 strings of fairy lights up so it still looks very festive.:D I am just waiting for DH to come back from watching the match to help me get the stuff up in the loft. I am changing my decorations back to red and gold next Christmas. (They were purple and silver this year and silver and black the year before.) This means I will need to swap boxes about to get the correct decorations to the front in preparation for next year.
I am unsure what to do on NYE. My DH would like us to go out for a few drinks however, I get extremely maudlin and usually end up crying so I would prefer to stay in.
On the other hand, I have completely changed my lifestyle over the last couple of years and wonder should this be another thing to change........Decisions, decisions.........
I think more thought is required!

Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say

That will be a good start. Wrapping paper can be so expensive so it is worth popping to the shops and getting it now. You can then hide it away with the decorations or keep it handy to wrap gifts as you buy them:DStart by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j

I really must get my !!!! in gear. Bar walking the dog I haven't left the house in days.
Am looking for advice
Do any of you lovelies have any experience of ELC HappyLand ?
I have just ordered FM the funfair from ELC. It is £20 down from £60, and I was thinking about getting more bits through the year. ( Am hoping some of it goes in the sales).
But is it worth it ? It's sooo expensive. I'm looking at boy bits obviously. The Pirate ship, Police Station etc plus cars. I was also going to get the box that becomes a play mat.
Ds had no imagination so I have no idea what boys play with.0 -
Eventually ventured into the shops today which were pretty quiet - yay!
I'd order a few sale bits online so collected those and was very good and didn't buy loads of stuff I didn't need, I didn't even get any wrapping paper or tags as I had a lookie through and decided we don't need anymore. All I bought myself was a cheap notebook as I want to start keeping more of an eye on what we spend on food every month to try and save a bit.
I'm quite pleased with the Christmas bits I now have for next year, crackers, family cards and some advent candles which were only £5 and the right price was £18. If the weather gets bad and we have a powercut at least we have some extra candles if really necessary! I also got 1 thing for a birthday present in a couple of weeks.
Also, decided I have so much craft stuff so rather than buying thank you cards I am making them myself and saving the pennies.Sealed Pot Challenge Member no. 048
